It has been awhile since i have updated. We are still fundrasing for the service dog. Anyways Kyle had sleep study #3 2 weeks ago. This was the one that was supposed to decide if anything was wrong with his sleeping. This study he was not sick and he slept in the hospital bed all by himself. Well they called us last week and said he needed another one. Well he is having it this weekend. They are going to try c pap. And try 3 differnt settings. I dont know what that means but we will see. And he isnt doing too bad with wearing his hearing aid either. I was surprised. Never a dull moment here. Vicki

Hi Vicki, my daughter had sleep apnea that was resolved by tonsil/adnoid removal. On the other hand my husband has severe sleep apnea. A c pap is a machine that hooks up to a mask(there are many kinds but think- oxygen mask) the mask is worn at night and blows air pressure to keep the airways completly open preventing apnea episodes. The settings they are talking about is just the amount of air presure. They are just trying to figure out the correct setting. If you can get Kyle to wear it it will make a big difference for him. Good luck!- Heather

Kyle had his sleep study and did great wearing the c pap. What i didnt understand was they would try the mask and if he wouldnt wear it. We would take it home and try it for awhile. This was at 8:30 at night and i had just drove 2 hours to the hospital. So i was bound and determined that the test would work out. He wasnt happy about getting hooked up againg with all the wires. But he was tired and went right to sleep which was unusual for him to go to sleep. But he wore it for 55 minutes without wakeing up. then we couldnt get it back on with out a fight. So we had 2 options trying it and seeing if he calmed down after it was on or coming back another time. So we put it on and a few minutes he was back to sleep and was a good test. He slept great and hardly any snoring really the best he has ever slept.
