Hello all,
Eric will be attending a summer day camp program starting next month. The camp is for any kids, 7-21yrs, who have special needs. They have about 40 kids signed up, and a waiting list, so we were very lucky to get in. A bus will pick him up every morning at 9am and return at 2pm. It sounds really fun. They do all sorts of arts, crafts, outdoor play, field trips, picnics, etc., just like a regular overnight camp. The ratio is 1 counselor to 1-2 kids. There is alot of parent involvement too, which I like. Also, after attending a parent meeting last night, I found out Eric's best friend at school is also going. I'm so happy, because these two have a special bond. Eric's buddy has CP and is in a wheelchair, nonverbal, but these two communicate in their own way. Its really sweet to see the two together. And lastly, I had filled out some paperwork to see if Eric could get a grant to pay for the camp...I wasn't really expecting anything because we never qualify for ANYTHING, so I was just going through the motions, but low and behold, he GOT it! Its such a blessing right now because with me not working it can get alittle tight. Gives us some breathing room, KWIM? Its all good!
