Hi friends! Coming up for some air out of my life's common craziness. Sure miss all of you soooo very much. Once in a while lately I have been able to drop in and read a few lines. Its always like coming home.
Anyway, I just wanted to share that Patrick (age 8 in April can you believe it?) just came back from his first away camp. It is a special needs camp in our state (SC) and you are eligible at age 7. Last year was not possible with my parent's health issues...but this year....it was time.
He had a wonderful time...was there from last Tuesday thru today (Monday). He seemed older when I picked him up? Does that sound silly? He is ready to go back next year and his favorite counselor (a great young high school grad) named Thomas actually lives close to us. We may be able to keep in touch...very cool. They swam twice a day, had a camp fire with marshmellows last night, boat rides on the lake, activity hall with air hokey, dancing and fooseball, just all the normal every day camp activities.
And the best thing.....it hardly hurt (Mom) a bit! And I'm sure that in no small part that is do to all the sharing from Susan and Jackie about their Emily's camp experiences. So thank you unomasers.....your wisdom and influence is like that energizer bunny.....it just keeps going and going and going.....LOL
Love you all, ~TriciaF

TRICIA!! It's always SO good to see you here!!! I'm so happy that Patrick had a great camp experience! (Can I say I'm not surprised?) I think the special needs camps do such a wonderful job of giving our kids an awesome week, and it's good for parents and kids alike. Emily has never had a bad camp experience!
And NO.........it's not silly at all that he came home "older"! We have found that every single time Emily went to camp. We have been surprised by it each time! I think she loves the experiences at camp, from life with 10 or more girls in a cabin to the various activities to just being independent for a week without family.
I'm so glad Patrick had fun!!

Tricia
So glad Patrick had a great time!! And I know just what you mean about coming back older, Laura does too.
What camp did you send him to? Since we moved to SC, I have gotten info on a couple camps, but not tried any yet. I would love to hear more about this camp Patrick attended.
