Ryan's birthday party was last Saturday. My guy is now 10. We invited 8 kids. 1 showed up. I felt bad... yet he was on cloud nine. The one child who came happened to be his most favorite of all friends. He has known her for 3 years now. He was perfectly content with the one-child turn out, and again taught me another lesson about appreciating what you have. Ryan's speech continues to be delayed, but he said something to me that I heard clearly that was amazing, wonderful, beautiful... I was so moved that I felt like it was my birthday and I just got the best gift one could get. He said, without any prompting... "Thank you very much mom for my birthday party... thank you for my bounce house". Thank YOU, Ryan, for being such an awesome kid!! Love ya!! Mom aka - Jodi

Jodi....what a sweet kid you have.....and I'd love to hear that speech from my daughter.... You had to be disappointed at the turn-out.....I hope you at least had a head's up and knew in advance that the others would not be making it vs waiting & waiting the day of.

Jodi, I'm so very glad that Ryan has a good friend. One good friend is worth a dozen acquaintances. You did get a wonderful gift as well, and I'm happy for both of you.

Happy birthday Ryan! 1 out of 8 isn't bad. My typical dd turned 10 last week too & she invited everyone in her dance class 8 girls, plus two neighbor girls, and one other friend. So all together she invited 11 girls. 3 showed up - and she's generally very popular. It's a busy time of year.

I have to say that Ryan is a very grateful kid. He is so appreciative of things and expresses his gratitude (usually "thanks mom" or "thank you very much") so much that it warms my heart. Honestly, I don't know of ANY kid who is more thankful than Ryan - regardless if it is a bouncehouse, or fixing him scrambled eggs! I hear a lot of kids saying thanks for things, but it is Ryan's level of sincerity that stands out. There are times he is so thankful that he wells up with emotion. It is a pretty awesome thing to behold! Thanks for all the birthday greetings!! Jodi
