Boy, I admit it, I am spoiled! I love the idea of internet access at anytime. If I can't sleep, I can go online. Wondering something? Go online, you can generally find the answer. Have an obscure thought? Go online. Anytime you want.
Well, last night we were without internet access starting at about 6pm. Still without when I went to bed about midnight. I was lost!! Couldn't find anything worth watching on TV. Of course, there is laundry to do, books to read, etc.. But, I couldn't settle. Why? Well duh, the internet access isn't working, and my world is upside down.
Well, as you can tell, all is right with my world this morning. Internet access has been restored, and my fingers are flying!!

I know you probably posted this somewhat in jest...but I really worry about people and their time spent on their PCs. I can spend hours myself so I know how 'addicting' it can be at times. However...for me...if there is something involving real people...that always comes first. But...I watch loved ones in my family who seem to be unable to function or relate to others without their laptops or Blackberries going at the same time. I watch grandkids unable to tear themselves away from gaming online. There is a lot of info ...also online...LOL...about computer addictions...Wikipedia has a lot too en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_addictionIt is really OUR kids who I worry about most with this. Yes, for the most part in jest. Although there were a couple of times I wanted to look something up, and couldn't.
I agree with the internet, Blackberry, etc., addictions. Laura loves to use the computer, but mainly for looking up music websites, such as Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Dixie Stampede. She really isn't into anything else. Kelly still likes certain game sites, but she has not visited any sites such as myspace, facebook. We have those types of things blocked.
Neither of the girls spend a lot of time on the computer. Mike does in the evenings. And he has a Blackberry, but only because he is required to by his job. He has taken to leaving that at home on occasion.
Every time I read about a child or teen leaving home to meet someone they met on the internet, it just gives me the willies. I am glad that we have so far avoided the internet usage issues for that type of thing.

I love my internet acess. I do know what you mean though. I have had problems with my internet. I never know what to do about it though. I am not very good at techonology. My Dad does but he has problems with his vision without him I would be up a creek literally. I love the Internet! I love to get on the internet. There is so many things to look up..........Debbie

LOL Sharon, I feel spoiled sometimes too with my computer...there was a power outage last month for 3 days...no phone, tv, or internet ...OMG NO Internet???!!! What? For 3 whole days???!!!! Our cable company in my area offers this service "All-In-One", and when the cable is out...well so is the phone and the internet and the t.v.... but I don't care for alot of t.v., and I can use my cell phone...but don't you dare keep me offline for 3 days!!! So the company reinbursed customers with free Showtime for a year, lol. But I still have only watched one movie so far called "Disturbia" and it was disturbing for sure! really scarey, but not as scarey as no Internet! ;D
