I just read where the powers that be approved two new multi-dose vaccines for infants/children. The first one combines Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, (DTAP), along with Polio. The second one approved combines Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Polio, and HIB. I have mixed feelings about this...the nurse in me is saying "YEAH! Less "sticks"....but as a Mom who may be dealing with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, I wonder if this is wise, especially since some data may suggest that multiple vaccines given at the same time may cause problems for SOME children. (Overloading a compromised immune system). I'm waiting to see how this pans out, especially in the media. Should be interesting.

I haven't heard about this yet nor do I think it effects us anymore LOL But it's interesting how they are wanting to combine things......

I agree , I think I would need to wait and see how this pans out, but the idea of less sticks is very exciting. Damara just went in for her 4 year old check and had to get 5 shots!!! That was very painful to watch and hold her down while they stuck her 3 times in one leg and twice in the other!

Wow! Our pediatrician has a policy of no more than two sticks/vaccine per appointment. You have to go to multiple appointments to get all of them in, but she is a believer in spreading them out. Next time I see her, I'm going to ask what her take on this is. Which is more important, the number of vaccines given at one time, or the number of agents injected at one time?

Luckily, I read up on this site. I asked our doctor about spreading the shot's out, she said yes, lets do that. Love it, she really is working with us.
