Hi ya for those that know me and for those that don't, I'm Heidi and have 3 wonderful kiddos! My oldest is Ashlie and my special one that brings me to Uno.. Ashlie is now 11 years old!! I also have Izayah who is 9 and Taydem who is 7 ( soon to be 8). Ashlie is going into 5th grade this year and LOVES school or its really her teacher! She is mainstreamed but 90% of the time its SPED time for her as she learns better when its more of a one on one ratio and not so academically involved. Ashlie is learning more of Self Help Real Life skills than learning all the presidents of the United States. Ashlie is growing and developing into a young woman She started her period when she was 10 I wasn't ready for it but thanks to her Hashimotos Disease ( thyroiditis) it helped her develop a Lil faster than normal. She has been doing fairly well. We are going in for another surgery on August 18th this time for a Complete Mastoidectomy on her Right Ear. She has been fighting these Ear Infections for over a year now.. We have done drops, antis, stronger antis, sucking her ears out.. Nothing is working. Ashlie underwent a CT scan that showed Mastioditis which is leading us to the surgery to see if this will actually clear up her infections. I have been busy and summer is never slow around here with 3 kids and summer sports. I promise to keep up more often on Uno as I do miss all of you! Hugs Heidi

I forgot to add since I have been here, Ashlie has been diagnosed with a Mild Seizure Disorder. She now takes Keppra and it has worked great for her! she has never showed convulsive seizures its more seizures like she blanks out and is totally noncoherent, You can shake her, talk to her, be in her face and you get no response. All of the sudden she snaps out of it with horrible headaches and she acts like delirous..

OMG Heidi!!!! She is soo grown up. Hey hafta e-mail you concerning the period thing scared to death here as Liv still thinx she needs a bandaid when she bleeds anywhere. I'm thinking a pad would be like a LARGE bandaid lol. Hey she may like that.lol I love the bowling "she shoots she scores" picture. And many thanks for sending the pics her n Liv look quite a bit alike. I wish I had kids with ds perfect eyebrows. But alas must pluck these groucho marxs'. ((HUGS))) great to hear more. Olivia tested pos for hashimotos but her levels aren't high enough to medicate so no meds yet but wonder if she will need them closer to puberty. Oh Lord talkin too much here well have a great day and thanks for the pics (((HUGS)) Steff

Hello, Heidi!! I'm Debbie and we have alot in common!! I have an Ashleigh, also - she will be turning 14 this month!! We just had ear surgery last week - she has had several sets of tubes and has just kept chronic ear infetions - they removed her permanent tubes last week and were able to clean her ears out really well because they were so infected. Ashleigh also has issues with her thyroid and takes Synthroid everyday. Hey Steff - don't stress too much over the whole period thing!! It really just kinda has a way of working out!! Ashleigh did sooo much better than I ever thought she would - it just wasn't really a big deal to her. She started right after she turned 11. Now I have her on a low dose b/c pill that she takes continually - so she only has a period every 3 months - it's great!! Welcome back!! Debbie

Hello and thanks for the Welcome Back! Steff- I echo Debbie you know i was so worried when Ashlie started her peroid on how she would react but she has done fine. We do use pads but we also started her on a B/C pill that eliminates her periods all together. We skip the last week of the pills every month (those sugar pills) and we start her on a new pack that week and it actually eliminates her periods I have to figure out this photo album thing so I can catch up on seeing pics of all the kiddos!
