Any of your kids loving this girl? I had to stop Lauren from watching. She was picking up too many bad words like shut up and stupid. Not to mention she was saying "fine" and "whatever" mom. I can't find anything for her to watch. She will pick up everything!
Did I mention she has a horrid attitude these days. I am taking her Tues to a psychologist. Lets see what they suggest..

It must be the age. Clarice (9) is having the same problems. I was letting her watch Hannah Montana (didn't realize that's where shut-up was coming from) because she was mimicking the little sister on Josh and Drake. I'm working with appropriate language and attitude because she hears the other at school all of the time. Nice to know I'm not the only one dealing with the pre-teen attitude!

Angela watches all the time. The words used in the show aren't any different than she hears at school, so I can't blame the show on what she's picked up. LOL Besides...for us "shut up", while not so great, is FAR better than what usually comes out of Angela's mouth! LOL

Well at 14yr.. I can not any better... it started around 9-10 yrs of age... and Courtney was not watching HM then... so can't blame the TV for the mouth or behavior. I think it the age!
I have to say.. Courtney keeps me on my toes and her mouth keeps me well on the edge! Never know what she will say and when! I am greatful she does it all approiate. Also Courtney around typical girls and at this age.. alot is said and done! We are also greatful she not out drinking and smoking and getting laid. I rather deal with the mouth!
Courtney loves DISNEY and NICK JR! So I am sure she gets some stuff from there!

I guess I dont think the show is so bad. She adores that and Raven and Z and C and life with Derek. She learns worse words from the radio and her Dad and other kids at school (Ok, and me on occasion.) Last week Roger went to get some Pepsi from the closet and chose to bring 6 cans in his hands over instead of the whole box. On his way to the fridge, he tipped over the dog dish, sending dog food everywhere and dropped a few cans of pop. One of the cans blew up all over the kitchen. He said many choice words in one long strungout sentence. And very loudly. So the next day Lia says Co#@ Su##er for the first time. yeah- I would take shut up any day over that. Nancy

It's the movie that was in theaters earlier this spring. I took Angela to it (as expensive as it was! They charged an arm and a leg for it!) but Angela loved it, and that's all I really cared about. I think the music is ok too, and I only fell asleep once.

It isn't the words she picks up its the attitude and the words. She mimics everything. I caught her and my middle daughter yelling back and forth that they were stupid. We have raised them without profanity. We don't say shut up and we don't use stupid. I know they hear words from other children but I just don't want them to think it is ok to use them. I LOVE the Hannah Montana show. We sit and watch it with her but when I ask her to do something and she looks at me and says you are stupid mom or whatever mom Hannah said I didn't have to then it becomes an issue. She has said she would kill someone because she hears Hannah say I am going to kill you to her brother. Maybe I am over reacting but I just don't think she is at a mental age to take it all in.

Hi, Hannah is on the Disney channel... I think its that channel... on July 26 at 8pm. You can get the glasses at WalMart. Already got mine. Haha, not for Cassie though as she is only 15 months. Looks like it will be pretty cool especially if you have a larger tv.

Ashlie LOVES HM- Actually her room theme is HM and High School Musical.. I am like some of the other moms I cant really blame TV for the words out of her mouth as she hears it at school and in the general public.. We do have talks with Ashlie on what is appropriate language and whats not..
Jackie- You can get glasses they are at Walmart and they are selling them in the big individual bags of chips( the ones that come in a 24 pack)

Renee...you may have a point when you say that at 9 she may not be mature enough to take it all in. I think our kids sometimes tend to take things they hear literally...and that can be a problem sometimes. However, if you constantly try to control her world...you may be faced with it being hard for her to really mature. I think to pick and choose what she is exposed to ...like with ALL our kids ....is your right. Just make sure that she is gradually introduced to what is relevant for her age group and you might have to be prepared for what comes with it.
From what I know ...Hannah is on the radar of most little girls...and you know...realizing that she can lash out verbally is just another developmental milestone...but up to you now to shape this behavior into something more positive.
Good luck...glad I am past this point in life...LOL
