Laura doesn't wear glasses (yet), but I know there are lots of kiddos that do and proper fit is a problem. I got this in the email today and thought it was worth sharing. They are glasses specially designed for kids with DS. I don't remember seeing anything about this before (I am more of a reader than poster). Here is the link: specs4us.com/Marisa

I have been wearing glasses just about all of my life. I was nine or ten when I started wearing them. I used to wear those not so popular black frame glasses when I was a kid but as the years wore on I wore wire frames and then the colored plastic frames. They were always bigger than my nose bridge. I hated them of course! I now wear smaller frames and I love them! For the first time in a long time I can now say I truly like my glasses!..........Debbie

Hi, I printed out the information on these glasses and brought them to her eye doctor. They ordered the kit and now have them for their other patients with DS. We ordered the NECK a new pair of these on Thursday, they fit so nicely and I can't wait to see her wear them. If they work as well as they are supposed to then she may actually look through them properly, if that happens then I may not be able to call her the NECK anymore! Fear not! I am sure I will find an equally as endearing name!

Cathy,
I'll be interested to hear how they work. Ethan is due for a new pair soon, and I've been considering these!

Laura,
I will let you know, she should get them some time this week. I am looking forward to seeing them, they have to be better than the ones she is wearing. These end up on the tip of her nose 90 percent of the time.

Kristopher needs glasses and the tech had such a hard time finding his size it was not fun. Seemed like he was in-between sizes. I looked at these and what was surprised about was they don't have the (can't remember what they call them) but they don't curve behind the ear. We didn't order them, ended up w/ some Fisher Price kind that had a full nose bridge (instead of the pads). They seem to hold well with the strap in the back.
We'll see, they should be in any time now. If these don't work, at least the insurance paid 100% for them, so I don't feel so bad.

Well,
We picked up Katie's new glasses from Erin's world... and they are AWESOME. The sit higher up and she can see through them wonderfully. She doesn't have to tilt her head up to see through them. I will take before and after pictures and post them later. But there is a big difference between the way these glasses fit her
THanks for posting this site.... Katie looks beautiful (if I say so myself)
Have a great day!!
Hugs,
Cathy

Oh, I am anxious to see the pictures Katie. I so happy to hear they fit so well. Laura will need glasses eventually, but she is ok for at least another year.
