So... a few days ago, Ryan cut his hair with scissors. He didn't say anything - I just happened to notice when I was drying his hair after he had taken a bath. A couple of days ago, he had gone downstairs got out the eggs, ketchup, etc., and started making breakfast. Today, he was caught standing naked in the bathtub with the water flowing. He said he was taking a bath. What's going on? It's like a light switch or something... he just has been doing stuff like this. I think I need to hide the keys to my car! Jodi UPDATE... Ryan was taking a bath. I was in the other room when he asked me to come in to the bathroom. He told me he washed his hair. Sure enough he did the whole thing on his own! And yesterday during swim lessons, he started swimming on his own ;D ;D ;D We are on a roll

Jodi, You just never know when he starts wanting to be independent. It sounds like he is starting already. Can you really be prepared for that? I don't know. You never know when a child starts to develop and want to strike out on "doing their own thing." You have to consider how old they are I suppose. By the way, how old is Ryan?.............Debbie

Oh I am so looking forward to your WDW trip report!!! It's looking like you are in for lots of excitement! Isn't it great (and scary) to see that independence develop?! Makes you think back to when you worked so hard just to get the kid to crawl...
Have fun!

Jodi
This sounds so much like the way Laura has grown, doing things. She coasts along, then all of a sudden takes on new things, doing new tasks, then coasts for a while again, never stopping what new things she started doing.
I think this is cool, so grown up and independent, WTG Ryan!

I love it! We've noticed the same thing with Emily. Even after all the years we've seen it, it's always a surprise when the "maturity spurt" happens.........but pleasant!
