We just got home from picking up Clarice from a week long summer church camp. Our regional church has always been willing to accommodate her at camp. Her counselor was someone whose known her many years...which always makes me feel better. She had fewer accidents...it's improving each year. They did tell me she had to spend an afternoon sleeping in the nurse's office, but that didn't surprise me. It's hard to keep up with the other kids' energy and 10 p.m. bedtime that she isn't used to. She had a great time, but seemed more tired than before. A boy camp up to me as we were waiting to sign her out and asked if I was her mother. I told him "yes!" and he told me "She's the nicest person I've ever met at camp!" For those of you with celiac...Clarice can't have dairy, eggs, or gluten. I have the camp fax me a menu two weeks ahead and send substituted meals that I make ahead of time, lots of snacks, and a list of what she can have. I show up with a grocery bag and an ice chest. It takes time, but has always worked out for her. Anyway, I'm happy for another successful week at camp!
