Hi Everyone,
I decided to make a picture book of Emma's summer to share with her teachers. Emma is non-verbal so she would not be able to tell anyone what she did this summer. I remember when I was young that the teachers always asked us about our summer vacations. I decided to buy one of the inexpensive pockets photo albums from the drug store. I bought some colored paper and stickers also. I wrote on the paper pages the description of each picture. (ie... our trip to the zoo, our visit with realative from out of town.....) It turned out really cute. I plan on putting it in her book bag for her first week of school to share with her teachers, aids and therapists. This way they can show her the pictures and she can reply in sign language to their questions.
I hope Emma enjoys sharing this with everyone interested in her summer. It is just an idea I wanted to share for others of you with children who do not talk yet and attend school.
By the way, we had a great summer but I am very glad she will start back to school on Monday.
Good luck with the new school year to all of you.
Leah

Leah, I did this for Jason last year because he had such a huge summer I knew he would want to share. Everyone at school loved it!! He also took it to camp this summer to show everyone -he's VERY proud of it. I titled it, "Where in the World was Jason Brannon this Summer?" I'm sure Emma will be proud of hers too. Jessie

I've done this before, and it really does help! Teachers seem to really like getting to see what the kids did all summer, and it is always great for the kids to see others so interested in them! Emily had a fun summer this year too.............I should think about a summer book too. Thanks for the reminder! Too bad we can't share our kids books here. Susan
