William has has chicken pox for 3 days so far and is really covered in spots and is feeling pretty miserable. He caught it from his sister Charlotte who is nearly better now.(after 3 1/2 weeks !) Charlotte had it really badly with fevers and vomiting at first. I was hoping that William wouldn't be so bad but now I'm worried about him being worse. Agghhhhh I hate it when my kids are ill Anyone got experience with this?, do you think it will be more severe for him because of the DS? I hope not. Lorraine

cool, oatmeal baths. the calamine helps, and I used a paintbrush to put it on, the girls loved the idea that they were "painting" their bodies. And as few clothes as possible, and if they have to wear clothes, as loose as possible. I put an old t-shirt of Mike's on the girls, and they loved wearing Daddy's shirt, anything to distract.
Oh, I hope the pox are gone soon! Take care Sharon

Oh I do not like chicky pox. My neice had them and I thought Brook would get them so I rushed her in for the chicky pox vacine. Very contravercial (sp) as to get it or not but I just said "do it". Brook never got them. When Mary had them I used Aveno oatmeal bath and Aveno lotion all over her. {{{{{BIG HUGS for the Chicky Pox kids}}}}}} At least you'll have it over and done with Lorraine

ewwwwwwwwww Chicken Pox. All four of my kids had it to the extreme!!!! With Emily I have always felt bad cuz exposed her to it intentionally. Right after kindergarten was over the girls across the street got it so thought summer was an ideal time to have it and get it over with.
So..........we did and................................Em was almost totally covered with them (ask Susan about the bathtub pic I shared with her...LOL) and even had them on the whites of her eyes as well as all up inside everywhere they could get inside.
She still looked bad in August when we got a doc certificate saying she was cured and could go back to school.
Despite her rocky start in life...Em has always been healthy as a horse so I figured the pox would be NO challenge to her immune system....WRONG.
So good luck with yours...glad those years are now behind me.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, we had a terrible night and a rough day, but he seems happier at the moment.
I do feel guilty about both of them having it as it came from my nephew, who only had about 50 spots over his whole body, lucky thing. I told my sister I wouldn't mind if they got it as its not a bad illness. WRONG LOL
On a better note William has just learnt to climb up on the sofa so he can't be feeling too bad ;D

The thing about the pox is that the longer the exposure, the worse the case - in general. So a chance contact in the market is more likely to be a light case, but a party - now that will produce a bad lot of spots, and a sibling, well {{{{{poor William}}}}} and {{{{{poor Lorraine}}}}}
I'm praying for quick recovery for the little guy.
