Hiya... gotta share this story. Today I went to my moms to hang out for a bit. I left to get some camping supplies for Kyles trip to Yosemite this weekend. he's going with my aunt n uncle n cousins kids for a week. So... my mom says she will watch Liv for the first day he is gone and night and if it works out another night. I am stoked to hear this. So off to longs drugs I go.In the 25 minutes I was gone a few things happened. First off everyone was out in the backyard Olivia went in and waited by the back door and when they were coming in she locked em out ON PURPOSE.She WOULD NOT open it for them. They had to go around. My mom spoke with her and she said she was sorry etc. They go back out Liv stays in . They try to come in finding her standing at the door locking it with the key the second she sees em thru the glass french doors trying to come in.So they go back around front as she won't let them in AGAIN. K so if thats not enough my mom went to make popcorn in the kitchen while my dad n Kyle hung in the backyard Liv was in the living room. Well my ma brings out the popcorn and when she gets in hears the phone ring. She goes to answer it after what she said was a lotta rings and the voice on the other end says DO YOU KNOW AN OLIVIA LIPTON??? My mom starts to panic as she didn't see her. Then Liv walks in the room and my mom says YEP I am looking right at her... Well the lady says this is 911 and Olivia just got off the phone with us we were JUST about to send someone over there. So she asks who my mom is and my mom says her granny and explains to the lady she must've called while she was in the kitchen making popcorn. She explained Olivia has ds and apologized profusely. They were gonna send someone anyways and my mom said the lady sounded veeeeeery apprehensive but didn't send out the troops. YIKES. So on our way home we stopped by the police station so that the nice policeman could explain to Olivia all about 911. I tried but kept getting varying answers from her.He also said he would be glad to come to her class next year to explain the rules of 911 when to and not to call and what constitutes an emergency. It seemed like she got it when I was testing her on the way there but a few imp ?'s I asked her she well heres an example, would u call 911 if Kyle hit his head on his skateboard and u couldn't wake him up??? Oh yes call 911. what about if you try to wake up mom or dad and they will NOT wake up no matter if you yell and scream YES MOM call 911 she got about 7 in a row then I say what if u wake up mom or dad and it takes a minute and then I say OLIVIA let me sleep I am tired and go back to sleep. OH yess MOM Call 911 (YIKES) What if mom or dad got mad at you n yelled a bit do u call 911? Oh yes mom. It's a bit abstract and I told the police guy and he said they have visual videos which may help her class to differentiate between circumstances better. I mean didn't wanna scare her from ever calling but... YIKES this was a first. I am gone 25 minutes and I come in to find Liv in the kitchen with my mom on the floor in the corner(not facing it) with her arms crossed mad as all get out. UGGG So thats my story n I'm sticking to it. (((HUGS))) Steff
Hey whatcha think my shot is at getting my mom to watch her for more than overnight one night now? I am betting my odds have gone waaaaaaaaay down .I'd say my shot is about hmmm 1,000,000,000 to one now. UGGG.

ahh....don't you just love "those" days! Its amazing how much can happen in such a short time! In my humble "grandmother" opinion, I'd say your Mom will still keep her for a few days.

When it rains, it pours! Liv was just having an "interesting" hour or so, and I'm sure her granny will still be willing to take care of her. Let us know how it goes when the 911 people show her class the video...........great idea!

I tell you Steff, it's something in the water (made it to PA)! If my boy gets into or dumps one more thing (sis's 6000 bead thing all on the floor, right before we walk out the door for soccer.....GRRRR That was just the last example. Thank God he hates talking on the phone. Trust me, I'm NOT teaching him about 911 yet! If he can't wake me...too bad. Here's to hoping you get a couple of days to yourself Pat

LOL - oh, I just love Liv stories!! She was just testing granny to see exactly what she was going to get away with when she stays with her.
Great way of handling the 911 issue with her though.
Jason loves to "talk" on the phone. No one can understand him but just jabbers away. I came home yesterday to find it on my WORK phone talking to one of my co-workers. Yikes!

Oh no Pat not the beads. My sister takes extra care with hers separating em into various containers etc. Can't imagine if Olivia were to dump em. Her tendonitus from doing the beading would probably cause her to stop forever if she had to go thru em all individually again. My sis makes the coolest things. She just made me a rosary and I just bought some very cool beads for her to make me bead flowers for a really cute tiny bead vase I found. My sis is very clever unlike her much younger (lol) albeit less talented sister. You've had a day too me thinx we need a calgon moment.
Our route home consists of passing by our police dept when coming from my moms to our house so thought well may be someone there would talk to her about it felt like a NUT when I explained to the lady I needed to hopefully speak to a not so busy policeperson so they could explain to Olivia 911. People are coming in for various crimes commited against them and here I am. Although I think we got the fastest service there. Olivia was quite the hit. They sure were nice to her.
On my mom watching Liv longer than one night not sure she will seriously after that one. If not I will be sending her on the plane to you DOLLY for some extra days n nights to myself. lol
btw there weren't that many people at the protest in Westwood kinda made me sad. I mean we are a HUGE HUGE HUGE town and when only 14 ppl show up it can be a bit disheartening. Plus the fact I cannot participate in anything where ppl are yelling BAN THE MOVIE. Cause well this is America and my goal was never to ban anything but to see ppl are aware.Kinda made me feel weird I walked away when they decided to start yelling that one in unison. I mean I hate it too but really banning the movie was never my intention just getting folks to not take their 11.00 it costs here to see a movie and spend it elsewhere. Now everytime I take Jeff to UCLA I will walk by that theatre with Liv and explain to anyone who will listen the way they talk and how negative and mean it is toward the disabled or whatever u wanna call its community. See I thought a great point a man made was when he wrote that the african americn community had people there to consult when R. Jrs character was in blackface etc. They were there on the set plus working on the movie. Betcha a million dollars the disabled community was NOT consultes and asked about their opinion cause they obviously think exactly what they say in the movie. Would love to see the artists film the really negative scene ,where they call each other every name known to man which is negative regarding the disabled community, with people WITH ds or whatever they have watching as they filmed it and got to offer up THEIR opinion.I watched TV in horror last night to find the movie tropic thunders advertisement followed by that great commercial where the kids are running in the sp olympics and the guy with ds falls and the rest come back to pick him up lock arms and win the race together. "We're all in this together.."yea right I thought yea right. K ranting must go. Take care
any ideas regarding the 911 sit would love to hear em. (((HUGS))) Steff
Jessie I love

YIKES Not sure how your chances are now Steff for more then one night Hope for you I am WRONG If it were my Mom as much as she loved my Chris OMG if I was gone for only 25 min. and he did all that NOPE I would not even get one night LOL Since Liv speaks so well any chance they told you what she said to them when she called 911? Only asking cause maybe by what she said might give you input on how to handle it KWIM? All 911 calls are on tape so just a thought. Only thing I can say is maybe if Liv does it again they should come and let them explain it was not a good thing... You know sometimes the kids listen better from others. CC ~
