I will tell you ladies that if the movie did nothing else, it has at leat opened the dialogue between alot of people. I know that directors from The Arc & other organizations have been talking for the past 2 weeks & sharing info about how they're getting wording changed from state to state in health departments & everything else....it's brought the issue to the surface again.

well there has been lots of wonderful , inciteful dialogue on this site and others, which is the true purpose of these sites after all, we are not all going to agree on any one subject, the thing about down syndrome is its a nondiscriminating thing. it touches every aspect of our society, from the poorest to the richest, no matter what race, religion, sex, or social station it touches all of us. these sights are wonderful in that we put aside (or try to) all the usual social barriers and concentrate on supporting each other to learn and grow , or just lend a shoulder when things get a little overwhelming, its not a "your with us or your against us"mentality, we all have one goal in mind to better life for our children, to make it a better safer world for them to grow in. you know tropic thunder is a very negative movie, intentionally or not, but its things like this, the" last straw" type of things that galvanize people to action, look at history, a tax on tea, refusing to ride at the back of a bus, little acts of courage are like snow flakes , eventually enough snow flakes bind together and become a rolling snowball thundering down a mountain side.
