First of all, does anyone know any other sites in Spanish, any online message boards similar to ours?
I met this beautiful little boy Brandon (1yr old) in the doctor's office waiting room today...he has Ds and is just the cats meow! or bees knees or whatever they say these days! ;D I wanted to just hug him...he was walking already and playing with the toys like a much older child...he has these adorable cheeks you wanna just squeeze! So the mother, not speaking much English, had her husband talk a bit for her. And I gave them the Unomas address to check out. They're Spanish speaking and are such a beautiful family...they look to be in their 30's and it's their only child. They live in San Pedro, CA and are not in touch with support groups so I offered our Uno family. He said they've been looking for support groups and something online. I hope they sign on here, and I hope to see them again sometime. The mom was holding Jelani and just so happy to play with him (I bet she appreciated seeing an older child with Ds) I remember those days when Jelani was young...I wanted to be around the older children to just "see" how they act and such. Jelani was more health compromised at that age and more delayed. But I'll say, her son will do fine, I could just see it...at the age of 1 this boy is intent on pushing those colored balls on the maze. He was smiling non stop at me, such a treat! Plus he's walking already!!!! Ok, enough about them. Your eyes are tired, I know! ;D I just had to share. Now I'll email them with our link to remind them and hopefully they'll register here and post a pic of Brandon! Just made my day! I bet our meeting eachother was for this reason, how cool.
