When John was diagnosed with the leukemia, he was sent to Crawford Long for a week. We were waiting for a bed at Children's. During that time, his blasts were at 120,000. The normal range is (I can't quite remember) around 100 or less. He was at risk for a heart attack and stroke. Praise God!!! He had neither. We had wonderful doctors to. The doc's were waiting to see if the blasts would go down on there own. After it was all over, the doc's had decided that he had a mild case of leukemia. And unfortunately, it can come back as a different form. He came through it so good. The RSV is what set him back. RSV is a nasty respiratory infection. All new parents need to be aware of it. It attacks premature babies and babies with suppressed immune systems. It's season starts this month. So take CAUTION. It's a nasty infection. I will have pics soon. My husband will have to show me how to post them. John is my little angel. I cant wait to introduce him to the new family. He is already rolling over, and has great hand eye coordination. He is also very verbal. Can anyone give me an idea on where we are and what he should be accomplishing at 6 months? I feel he is right on target or even ahead. My other children didn't roll over so quick.

Gee, sounds like your little one is right on track. Cassie did some things that my other kids didnt do either at an early age. She was even saying nana and just had started to say papa and dada at 5 months. She also was rolling over at an early age. She ended up having heart surgery at 5.5 months, and that buggered everything for many months. It put her back unbelieveably. Your little John is doing everything he should be. Awesome! I dont know how to post photos either. I will have to get my hubby to show me...

HI!!!!! Welcome to uno and so nice to hear all about John. Sounds like he's a tough cookie. You 2 (you n your husband) must be so relieved not to have to live in the hospital worrying all the time. It's so nice to finally come home, take a DEEP breath and enjoy your new baby without all the whistles n bells and people around you at all times. John sounds like he is doing fabulous just for any baby then to put in the fact he has spent most of his life in the hospital he is doing well outstanding. Are you in California. ? I seem to remember San Diego am I right? Do you have a case worker from regional center? My husband is going to SD for the Jets Chargers game Monday night....Well if you need anything don't hesitate to ask these people are amazing. K??? (((HUGS))) Steff
