Went to see the urologist today. Eric has a undesended testicle which I kept putting off. Now in the last few weeks, he has developed a inguinal hernia on the same side. So now we have to have both repaired. We scheduled it for next Thursday, October 16. It will be done outpatient... I hate when he has to have anesthesia....I guess I'm a worrier by nature (nurses are the worst), and its really unfounded because he has always done excellent....but I'm not looking forward to it. Hopefully, all will go well, and we get this behind us. I'll let you know how he makes out.

Yeah, you probably know too much for your own good. Trust everything will go well for Eric. Hope he has an easy trip through the OR. But, yes, do make sure they've got a good anesthesiologist on hand. -- Bob

We will be thinking of you also. Justin had bilat undescended testicles due to being a micro preemie. He had his testicles pulled and tied down, a circ, and ear tubes done all at the same time....outpatient. He has BPD (a chronic lung disease)....and did well post op. Being a nurse...I also am a worrier. I just pray all the time. That helps me........well, this place too!!!!

Dolly, I almost forgot to wish Eric all the best tomorrow and a speedy recovery. My son had inguinal hernia repair at 3 months old. But the undescended testicle wasn't confirmed till this year. He will have this procedure next year. I can't believe it took them (and me) this long to see it's slightly out of where it should be. Hope you have time to post with an update...take care and sending lotsa positive thoughts and prayers for Eric. (and you too mom)

Hello all, Well, we came through the surgery quite well. He was alittle "mean" at first coming out of anesthesia...in fact he "helped" the nurses by pulling out his IV and pulse Oximeter a bit earlier than planned. He has two incisions, one in his groin, and one on the sac. He doesn't seem to be in too much pain right now. The doc said he put some "pain killer" right into the incisions that will last about 7-8 hours. I'm giving him tylenol every 4 hours too, and it seems to be working. He's walking a bit "gingerly", but he's doing alright. He's eating and drinking great...in fact, I have to slow him down a bit because with general anesthesia you can get some nausea, but so far so good. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! Love ya, Dolly and Eric

Dolly, I'm so glad it went well! Things sure are different from years ago when I worked in Peds and the little boys had to stay flat in bed for 2 days! I'm happy that Eric is able to get up and go!
