I know its been a long time since Ive been here. But I need to know if any of you have dealt with this kind of skin problem. Rileys toes or fingers will start to get red and swollen, then they start to look calloused. (Usually only one toe or finger at a time) After a few days it seems to turn a greenish? Then suddenly peels like crazy. The first time it happened he was an infant. and it was his toe...underneath it...it looked like a huge growth. His toe (second toe in) was larger then his big toe...then like I said just peeled. The doctor told me it was nothing. But now at 2.5 he has since had his fingers do it. Once just a few weeks ago...and now its starting again. I got a picture of it this time. It seems to be sore. He calls it boo boo. And he flipped out screaming the other day when he was banging on the door and hit it. Any ideas? I need to get the doctors to listen to me.

Seems to me that if it returns then it NOT nothing! Sorry I don't know what it is, but I agree you should go to a Derm...

How do you get a referal if the doc sees nothing wrong? Usually I just say something and the doc sends me out to someone different. But Ive asked on this 2 times now and he just blows it off.
damarasmom-it returns but in different spots. Different fingers or toes...

JMHO, but if your doc keeps blowing you off and won't give you a referal.... oh i'd be finding a new doc. Maybe you can call up a Derm and just make an appt. I would

What about going to emerg with this problem. It looks to me like fungal/bacterial problems going on there. I am no dr though.... but its not nothing thats for sure. I am shocked at how some doctors will just say, dont worry about situations like this, and you can darn well see, its not just nothing............grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lexi's fingers would do that after she would bite a nail really short, (but they never quite looked that bad). I would usually start with perocide (sp). and if it got really bad I would wait till she went to sleep and poke it with a pin and drain it. After it healed it would dry up and peel. So maybe an ingrown nail? JMO

(I didnt know how else to explain it LOL) it just ends up growing up and to the nail

YES YES..... Erin's fingers look EXACTLTy like this....and no.....I don't think it is fungal or parnychia.....I honestly think it is BLISTERED.....because she sucks on them all the time !! We don't have any greenish looking stuff on her fingers....but her thumbs are swollen and mishapen and always have actual callouses on them. They "peel" because the blister has "popped".... Now I could certainly be wrong on my dx......and I am going to try and get a picture of her fingers tomorrow so we can compare.....
I've NEVER seen it on her toes....althogh my son peeled a blister from his toe once and I nearly fainted when I saw what was "left" a big hollow of nothing.....anyways....I digress...... Does Riley suck his fingers ? Erin chews them more than sucks them....so I know those poor things have quite a work out....

I agree its blister like...
Riley doesnt suck or chew his fingers....it seriously happens randomly. Others have suggested ezema too. But creams dont seem to do much. Just make it softer.
