Hello, I don't post much but read everyday.I wish I did have time to post a lot more(maybe one day I will catch up,this is a very busy place) I love reading and learning about all your families! I know this book is OT but I was just wondering if anyone has read it.A Stroke of Insight, By Jill Bolte Taylor. She was on Oprah a couple days ago and I watched the show,Jill is a brain scientist who suffered a stroke. She wrote a book about her experience including a minute by minute recap of her stroke experience. The book supposedly goes into her rehabilitation. This peaked my interest becasue my daghter (she ahs DS and is 11)suffered several strokes at 5 yrs old one major stroke left her like an infant. She's made some miraculous recovery in 6 yrs but still ahs a way to go.I'de lover to hear how anyone liked the book if you happened to read it or maybe someone you know has.If you care for anyone who's suffered a stroke it was said that this book is a must! Thanks for any opinions! I read this while working as a PA in neurosurgery. I think it is a very well written book that really helps one to understand what the person is experiancing during the stroke and the road to recovery. I beleive that medical professionals who work with patients who have had a stroke would benefit greatly from reading this book. As far as from a childs view, it may not uncover as much insight as they may not have the understanding as to what is going on to them - but I really liked this book - as far as how well written it was. Again, being a neurosurgical PA at the time i more fully appreciated the struggles that my patients had to endure and made it all the more exciting when they acheived their goals.

I did finally get to read this book. I thinkit's most beneficial to any caregiver who is taking care of a stroke patient. What it did for me is to allow me to better understand the inner feeling of the stroke patient( my daughter). It helps the caregiver to learn how to be respectful and caring of the patient. It was a great read and very esy read. Anyone taking care of someone who's suffered from a stroke could benefit from this book. Mary Grace
