As part of Laura's birthday present in September, my Mom had told her one more part was coming in October. So Wednesday Mom called and told her she was going to see Dolly Parton in concert. Laura was so excited. She is like me, and loves all kinds of music, but has a special love for Dolly Parton. So Friday (we were out of school for a work day), we drove to Atlanta, met my mom at a hotel (she flew up from Mobile). We ate dinner, and then went (in the rain) to an outdoor amphitheater where we were seated literally 4 feet from the stage. Dolly gave a great show, she is a great performer, and really connects with her audience. Laura absolutely loved it. Every time Dolly started to sing a song, Laura would turn to us and say "I have that song on my iPod". She had a wonderful time. After the concert, we went back to the hotel, ordered desserts from room service, and sat up until 2 am talking. At least Mom and I did, Laura gave it up about 12:30. She had a wonderful time, it was worth the 6 hour drive.

:(No pics. They announced no photography, and while we were 4 feet from the stage, we were 2 feet from the nearest security person, and they were extremely strict about the camera rule. The announcement was one warning, and then you would be escorted out, and they followed through.
I will post a pic though of Laura in her Dolly t-shirt and pink cowgirl hat we got at the concert.
