Hi everyone
We just returned from an almost 2 week long "delayed" 40th anniversary cruise to Canada. We had a wonderful time and the leaves were at their peak in Quebec, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island! We are really ready to go back and spend more time in Canada.
The cruise was a bit...odd... cuz the ship had just come in from a cruise where people had the Norwalk virus so they made us "sanitize" about every 10 min on the ship...people spraying us constantly with anti bacterial stuff...LOL...took a bit of the pleasure away cuz it always smelled like an old fashioned doctors office. No buffets...everything had to be served cuz of CDC regs when this has been on a previous cruise...at least we didnt get sick and not sure anyone did.
My" odd" experience is that on this ship ...everytime I mentioned my family...as you do on cruise ships cuz everyone gets to know everyone...LOL...when I told people proudly that my youngest daughter was 28 and had DS...I got not even one comment back from...anyone...mostly just blank stares...like ..."what is that?"...or just dead silence prompting me to change the subject quickly. I have never had that happen. The population of this ship (Norweigan) was pretty old...even older than us...LOL...so maybe that's why...dunno. About half way thru the cruise I just stopped mentioning the fact. I did see a family with an adult son with DS...but only saw them briefly so didnt get to visit.
