I'm having a pity- party....anyone wanna come?
My mom calls me last night to tell me my grandma is in the hospital with bronchitis. She's 93 years young. They all live clear across the country, so I can't be there. Please pray for them because my mom said she's feeling sick too...she's in her 70's (she'd KILL me for offering that information, btw) She cares for my grandma, (her mom) and no wonder they are both sick, but grandma's sicker. We hope she can go back to her house, she hates hospitals. Her husband, my grandpa passed 2 years ago at 95, it must be so difficult for grandma, they were married 68 years. Her name is Sarah and I appreciate your positive thoughts for her.
Ok...I said pity party....I'm still partying....
I wake up today and I am coughing and weak and about to pass out. But I forge on. I wake Jelani up for school and he's fine, just a little runny nose. I kept him home and ruined his near perfect attendance...
SO here's a **NOTE TO SELF**
*do not assume your child is sick because you are....
*do not assume his/her runny nose w/o fever will be contagious....
*do not keep child home from school in fear he'll contaminate the classroom and make the entire school district sick with his runny nose.
*do not even attempt to be the courageous super mom (that you are) if you are sick...
*send child to school...if child is fine.
*taking care of "fine" child with runny nose when YOU are sick is TEN times more difficult...and your own sick and aching self cannot heal when you have to deal with a stir crazy 5 year old who MISSES being in class and is climbing walls.
*Which is All due to your over dramatic concern for the health and welfare of his class...when reality is you're only doing yourself in!
And remember always...
(child's *Teeth grinding actually becomes amplified like concrete being drilled when mom is sick.)
Please keep NOTE to SELF handy....don't be foolish like me.
Party ON!!!
