Jackie is always talking about Emily, Jack Sparrow, clothing and posters etc.... Well I have a problem Collin is obsessed with Hannah Montana...not Miley Cyrus!! Hannah Montana....he likes the blonde's . He is always asking to go to her house, says she lives in a BIG one. He had been really good at school so I told him I would let him pick out a movie...he insisted on buying HANNAH MONTANA. We go to the store and he wants all the Hannah Montana toys and clothing....Problem with that my DH would have a fit if Collin went around wearing a Hannah Montana shirt!!! How do I get him to trade obsessions? I would go for Woody (as mentioned earlier) or Mickie/Minnie mouse like Chris is but...HANNAH has to GO!!! Help!! Connie

That is a problem. And no help here. I was glad when Charlie moved on from Barney to Bob the Builder. Bob's still pretty big, but Charlie is going for his fridge DJ a lot these days. Maybe you could get a Hannah Montana shirt for Collin and an R-rated Miley Cyrus shirt for Collin's dad. But would that solve anything? -- Bob

Can you get him into HSM - there is TONS of Troy stuff.... How about Camp Rock and Shane Grey, (Mitchies partner/friend). Tons of stuff out there for him too!

or...sigh...Emily's still favorite...Jack Sparrow/Johnny Depp. As sick of this as Katie is...she says its far less embarassing than when Em had pics of Elton John plastered inside her billfold.
Can you get him to attach maybe to Billy Ray? That was Em's VERY FIRST obsession.
LOL

No help here Connie...Jelani is stuck on Elmo and he'll be 6 tmoro. I remember someone at another site has a son who was stuck on Dora for a while. I'll ask her what she did to break it. He's 10 now, this was 3 years ago. But I agree with replacing the obsession with something else (yeah if you could do that you wouldn't be asking the question! ) I'll post back.

My boys love girls with long hair - any color as long as it's long. So... Barbie & friends, Hannah Montana, almost all the girls at the dance studio, women and girls everywhere who have long hair get lots of attention from my boys I think it's healthy and normal attraction - obsession or no. What we've done for our boys is encourage them to play at things like Rescue Heroes and Knights - that way they can save the pretty girls from all sorts of things. They get to roll-play man things & still enjoy their thoughts concerning the pretty girls They still play with their sisters' Barbies sometimes though And it's all I can manage to get them past the bra section at Wal-Mart *sigh* I don't know how this would work for Collin. I just wanted you to feel a bit less alone

At home Collin plays with his GI Joes and his sisters Barbies my really big problem is him wanting to wear the Hannah Montana pink shirt I dread taking him into Target because he makes a beline to the girls department picks out a shirt with "HIS" girls picture on it!! LOL...then when I tell him NO...that's a girls shirt he proceeds to tell me he's a girl Dad didn't think him dressing up in his sisters princess dress was good I can only imagine how he would react to a Hannah Montana shirt. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D sorry but lmaorotflol... Oh Connie... You are crackin me up here sorry bout that. Well the only suggestion I could give you is to get Griffin and Gray involved. Have them hone their acting skills around Collin. Have em talk about a character you all may want him to be more obsessed with rather than Hannah. Liv loves Hannah too she's probably rather wear a Hannah black football jersey and Collin the pink one. Boy those two. lol... Anyhoo maybe have em talk about a different character and perhaps have them hold a shirt that you might rather have Collin wear. Maybe after Collins interest is piqued then have one of them give the shirt to Collin having the other one protest... I know Liv loves anything her brother oohs and ahhs about and yes I am guilty of using this technique before and it worked like a charm. But don't let him have it right away let em sell him on it by talking about whatever person or character you want him to check out and perhaps wear (((HUGS))) Steff

Wow kathleen's not the only one I guess.....She is a football lover, and she has a Jerry Rice football figure. It ahs become kind of a "comfort" toy for her and she takes it just aobut everywhere(he's not allowed to go to school with her).We bought it at a garage sale a few years ago and then our dog chewed the head off.Well she was devasted but I thought she would rventually forget aobut it.But whenever she got upset she would cry " I need my Jerry Rice".Well last year compliments of e-Bay Santa brought her a new one.She was sooooo happy! Jerry Rice has no idea he has such a loyal fan! Oh yeah she has looked up videos of him on youtube and boy he sure was fast! Mary G

How about leting him wear the shirt under another shirt? Even if it is pink, pink is an ok color for boys. I see boys with pink (usually layered) Ralph Lauren type shirts all the time. This way he gets to wear the shirt and nobogy has to see it. Just a thought. I have girls so we are lucky in that regard, thye can wear girly or boy stuff and nobody gives a second thought.

Just had another thought as I posted this. How about telling him Hannah loves Woody or another character? Maybe he would like what he thinks Hannah likes.
