I hope you don't mind, Jackie, but I stickied this thread so it would stay at the top and EVERYONE would have the chance to see it for a few days. She's an inspiration!

Thanks...Em is standing here with me this AM reading this and she says "it was fun to be on TV and I love selling my art" A funny side note. The reporter in one segment asked her what she was painting. She replied "a flamingo". The reporter then looked over at her sketch book on a small easel which had Emily's really fun flamingo labeled with her phonetic? spelling..lol. She said.."oh I see, Emily, you are painting this really fun flamingo that you have named Famgoo!" Emily started chuckling because she got the humor of the mistake. Of course we all cracked up at home watching it. We have decided to make FAMGOO our new family catch 'word'...LOL. She did finish a fun painting of Famgoo who sort of looks part turkey...its great. I had so much fun looking around the gallery. There are many really fun paintings from everyone. Em has another fun one that I like called THE APPLE MAN AND RAPUNZEL DANCING ON THE BALCONY. Not sure where that one came from but oh so fun. Wish I had 500 to buy IT. I can hardly wait for tonite and the opening. Marnie is here now. Jackie

OK...finally home and off that borrowed laptop...LOL.
The opening was AMAZING. I thought...hmmm maybe 50 or so people...but...there were hundreds!!!! It was a class act affair for sure. Many who came in ...came because of the tv spots the day before and their attendance had not been solicited. It was from 5-9 and we finally all left a bit before 8 cuz my tootsies were sore. People were still streaming in then.
Katie and Tony had to get to a company party so Marnie, Emily, Hayden, and I went out to Brick Oven Pizza and toasted the opening withi pizza and champagne...(well Hayden who is 9 just got to stick her finger in the bubbles...).
Em spent the whole evening up front in the gallery and every time I peeked I just glowed because of her poise and thrill that was evident with all the attention. Of course I am proud of her art skills but even more of her presence and ability to converse with these complete strangers. I decided that times like THIS is what it has all been about!
I saw a new level of maturity in her on this visit too. She has started an antidepressant which might be helping but...she was quite ok with all my suggestions when the four of us girls started cleaning up her room and space at Katie's.
I can hardly wait to see her again in two weeks.
