WOW Jennifer! I know this is bad, but I'm glad those pics didn't come from Michigan! (We are headed there on Wednesday, and we don't drive well in ice.) Stay warm and safe, Susan

Yes this is the worst snow/ice storm Oregon has seen sence the 1960"s. Snowed all night again. Last word 75,000 people are out of power. I'm of corse at work so everyone needs a place to stay and I only have 32 rooms here at the motel.the apartments are all ful and the locks on the doors are shatering on the inside. The little plastic peices. Have to take the hammer to them to get people in/out. All the motel rooms are filled up too. Elderly and families w/ kids are first, of corse, and others are bunking w/ friends. Everyone is trying to help out here. This place is packed!! The dish is frozen so we have 3 channels of tv, all news. We are thankful we have power as of now and can help out people. The crews from PGE (electric guys) can't make it to town. We have 4 roads in and they are all closed. SO many down trees. Neighbors are digging out the chainsaws to get them here. Farmers are trying to clear the roads w/ their tractors. I keep making coffee and cocoa for them and let them come over to use the potty and get warm. My momma has been out of power for two days and just came on last night. I'm freeking out b/c I can't make it to them. They have FEET of snow and of corse my chains are over there. Go figure. My BIL and SIL are upstairs b/c they have no power either and she needs to help me here. I can barely keep up. People are stranded everywhere. NO busses, trains, and the airport is shut down. No flights in or out. Roofs are caving in, houseboats on the river are sinking. Everything is closed and if the one store in town does open for a couple of hours a day there is no food b/c the trucks can't get to town. Only snow mbiles and ATV's are getting around. Mom claims she is fine but man i'm worried for her and the animals on the farm. I just heard on the news they are trying to get the National Guard here to help. OMGoodness!! Like i said NO WHERE is open so people are in real need of medical help. A elderly man up the road had a stroke and they couldn't get to him for hours. No word if he is ok. I could go on and on. Disaster here and more snow to come in the next couple days. A few Prayers would be great right now. Sure Oregon gets some snow every year like at Mt Hood and Batchlor, the ski areas but NOTHING like this in downtown Portland. We are ok and warm as of now. Brook is fine too. Bored outa her mind b/c we are stuck but she is warm and has food. Please keep Oregon and Washington in your thoughts if you could. ALOT of people are going to have a "at home stuck in the snow" Christmas. Hopefully they get some lights for the tree and some heat for their homes. 12 counties are under Emergency shut down. Our local snow plow Our other local snow plow. Yes they are local farmers w/ their tractors trying to help out The tree out front This pic does no justice for the amount of ice on the power lines Just a pretty
