Having a heck of a time finding a jogging stroller with a weight limit greater than 50 lbs. I want one like Bob has for Charlie but I digress...LOL. Anyone know of a good one with a bit more "umph"?? Thx (Oh I only have a couple hundered bucks. No more than $250.00. Unless it's all cute and pink and girly )

Uh, yep, that's why I needed a grant to buy that stroller. Still think health insurance should have paid for one couple of years ago. Retail price of Convaid Cruiser transit model is about 2300. I got Charlie's plus a canopy for 1800. There's sort of a stripped down, non-transit model that Adaptive Mall says is on sale for 635.95 www.adaptivemall.com/metrocomplete.htmlI see that they've also got a Maclaren on sale for 489.95 and one of their special needs jogging strollers, from which I don't know from nothing, on sale for 549.95 www.adaptivemall.com/sptojo1.htmlThere may be some better deals on some better strollers around somewhere. Dunno. But, if you want pink and less that $250, then you could just go to WalMart and get a Jeep umbrella stroller Less than $45 but it's only good up to 35 pounds www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3989247Sorry, not much help. -- Bob

"Sorry not much help -- Bob" Huh??? I'm confused because you just were like TONS of help!!! Jenn he helped right?!!! I just wanted to mention I overpayed for Jelani's MacClaren...dumbbb me....at Target for 30% mark-up. I don't jog with it, LOL. But it's very handy, light, sharp color (charcoal), sleek, and I had no idea when I was buying it that it was considered a special needs stroller! I just loved it when I saw it and bought it for $100...but here I see it for 69.00 babye-store.com/Bob's pic of the adorable pink jeep one is so cute! But Bob was really no help what so ever...the moderators really need to have a talk with him about posting off topic.

A. could tell more about Stealth Mobility Lightning www.stealthproducts.com/catalog/lightning/But lists for about $1500. Can shop it and find for half that. Still, another chair that should get through health insurance. -- Bob

www.bizrate.com/strollersjoggers/products__keyword--stroller+groove.htmlThis may be another option...check with your local Regional Center for funding. When Jelani needed a posterior walker we were provided with one from the Regional Center...strollers may be also... I first went through his Pediatrician and was referred to an Orthopedist who inturn wrote an RX for "walker". Maybe a stroller RX would be something an Orthopedist would write and the Regional Ctr would fund for? They have their own lists of vendors for equiptment they provide. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask is what I always say.

I bought Lia a Bob stroller. Love it, goes great anywhere and yeah- you can jog with it. Goes to 75 pounds. Has had many miles on it the last three summers. Think it less than $200 with free shipping. Cool colors. also folds and unfolds like a dream and fits in the trunk amongst other things. Nancy

Hmm, a BOB stroller. Don't know anything about jogging strollers, but nice name. Price varies with model but this one is three-something, www.joggingstroller.com/BOB-Revolution.pro?utm_source=js&utm_medium=banner&utm_term=promo1a&utm_content=BOBRevolution-120908&utm_campaign=jshomepage Oh ho, and there's a chocolate/pink. Ah, but health insurance, long, sad tale. Some 6 or 7 years ago our health insurance picked up most of the tab for a bus transportable special needs stroller and seating system for Charlie. Early Intervention people sent us to the seating specialists at their place who do a lot of work for kids with CP. They chose a Kimba stroller, cost about as much as a used car and weighed almost as much. But served its purpose well for several years, but parts were wearing out and Charlie was outgrowing it. OK, so, doctors and PT's at Ds clinic at CHOP lined us up with some of their medical equipment suppliers. Got a really nice Britax car seat, and I think our health insurance paid for all of that, and I think was less than $400. But car seat was sort of an afterthought when ordering a Maclaren major special needs stroller. Due to various screw ups, we actually had one delivered at one point but then when our insurance refused to pay for it, we told supplier to come take it back. Our health insurance repeatedly denied coverage on basis that stroller does not qualify as durable medical equipment. Doctors wrote letters and made phone calls, no go, insurance told a CHOP doctor they would pay for a wheelchair but not a stroller. OK, fine, I would pay for thing if I had to but then I would have shopped for cheaper. I applied for grant from state agency. While that was slowly grinding away, heard about foundation connected to our insurance, United HealthCare Children's Foundation, www.uhccf.org/ , and applied to them too. Then, when it came time to collect my grant, I wanted another letter of denial from United HealthCare stating that item was not covered. But, after submitting another note from Charlie's pediatrician and giving correct code for pediatric transport chair used in lieu of a wheelchair, insurance denied on basis that we didn't get pre-approval. But, no matter, still collected my grant. And another little insight into this crazy business, I bought the same equipment that we would have ordered from a medical equipment supplier about a year earlier. They would have billed insurance about $5,000. Retail price is about half that, $2,500. I got it for $1,884. I had applied for and received a grant of $1,800. But any who, in answer to your question, if Brook's doctors and therapists think that she has mobility issues that would justify a special needs stroller as medically indicated, then depending on how your health insurance defines durable medical equipment and what kind they will cover, you might get insurance to pay for a stroller. But be prepared for some delay and resistance, possibly with large amounts of organic fertilizer. -- Bob

We have a Dreamer Design Manhattan Lite Jogging stroller with a swivel front wheel that we love. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business! It holds up to 85 lbs and is much taller than any of the BOB strollers. I don't know if we just spoiled our child or if she really tires easily but we still use a stroller and Sarah is nine. Looks like we will have to bit the bullet and get a pushchair next time. Check this out www.happynursery.com/dreamer_design_manhattan_lite_jogging_stroller.htmChris
