John is crawling!! He just decided it was time, got up and crawled. He is 10 mths. Is this about average for children with ds. I am helping him with the pulling up thing. He is getting so Strong. All he wants to do now is pull up, on everything. WOW, do you think he will be walking before 18 mths? Any insite will be greatly appreciated.

He sounds strong! Joshie was 14 months before he sat up alone. I can't remember how old before he crawled, but he pulled himself along combat-style for a long time before he actually got up on "all fours" and did a real crawl. (He walks AND runs, now, but it seemed a long time coming.)
Good job, John! Boy, he's cute in his Cookie Monster overalls.

You go John! Sounds like he's ready to launch! One of these days you'll be in the kitchen and someone will be walking right behind you! Eric was older...about 2 1/2 years, but he had alot of health issues his first 2 years. And he was a premie (31 weeks), so that didn't help him either. Your guy is a strong little man, so 18 months isn't out of the question....keep us posted.

Be ready!!! Oliver crawled at 9 months and walked just before turning 1! So it may happen much sooner than you think!

Oh how GREAT!!! Brook did a butt scoot (which after awhile hurt her little feet so don't let him do that ok) She crawled at about 1 1/2. A few months before she walked John is so wonderful!!

John must have pretty good muscle tone. I am sure he is very proud of his accomplishment. Sarah was happy rolling all over the place. She was able to get where she wanted to go and got there pretty fast, too. She didn't start crawling until she was 17 months. She never army crawled but just got up on her hands and knees and started crawling one day. She didn't start taking steps until she was 30 months. It took her forever to work up enough endurance to walk everywhere. She is seven now and still doesn't have a lot of endurance to walk semi-long distances (like through the mall). Chris

Crawling and pulling up!! Thats a big deal!!! The beginning of your world being turned upside down has just begun!!
He can now reach things he's never been able to in the past and soon you will be chasing him because he will be running before you know it!!
Collin sat at 8 months, Crawled at 9 months (fast bear crawler I've ever seen) and walked at 18
Congrats to both of you!!

Yay for John you must be soooo proud. It sounds like you have a very strong and healthy and smart boy there. It sounds like he is moving at level of child who doesn't have DS. How exciting. I imagine it must open all the possiblities of what life has to offer for John. He is amazing. Give a Big Hug of Congratulations to him from Aunty Jess

10 months & crawling?!?! Wow! My typical kids didn't crawl until then, and Stevie didn't manage it until 12 months - that with daily work with Mommy She walked at 16 months after having mastered the reciprocal crawl to the point of crawl-running. It took her a couple of months after crawling to get her to pull up and cruise, even with M&Ms for bribery placed all over the edges of the furniture WTG John!!

That sounds pretty darn good to me!!! Ethan didn't crawl until he was fifteen months old, and didn't walk until he was 2 1/2.
I think you'd better invest in a good pair of running shoes! ;D ;D ;D
