Well John has failed his right ear testing since birth. We had a scheduled test a couple of weeks ago and John had a stomach virus. So the test is being done tomorrow at 10:30. ::)I know we need to get this over with, but I am so worried about John being put to sleep. We will be at Children's Hospital again so I am thankful for that. I think, if anything he may have some hearing loss. The little rascal hears everything. Or at least it seems so. After this, we will get to slow down a little. Stacy

Charlie's had a couple of ABR's or BAER's. Did not have general anesthesia for either. Don't think they do that. For the first one, just got him to snooze after having a bottle of EBM. For the second one, just a couple of years ago, like age 7, they gave him versed. I'd think John might get a little chloral hydrate if anything. Shouldn't be too bad. And need to check his hearing. Maybe you can just tire John out tomorrow a.m. and avoid any sedation. Good luck, Bob

They didn't sedate John-John heavily either when he had his as a baby. Hope all comes out well. Even if his hearing is good, it will become more selective as he gets older! LOL Pat

Stevie failed several hearing tests before having one that showed all was well - quite well. We never really worried since she could clearly hear from each ear in at least the ranges we could "test" at home, which, IMO, are the most important ranges - speech and alarms. She could hear even the faintest of "mouth noises" when made in each ear, and turned her head appropriately in response to hearing familiar voices and especially hearing her name. Still, though, we continued to test that hearing until we got a good, solid result. Best wishes on the third attempt!!

Thanks Chris. I believe John is ok. Just want the "you passed" statement. He can hear quite well to. Maybe all will be well for the 30th of April.

It's a funny thing about the official "thumbs up" - it really makes a difference somehow. Even for me, it seemed that following a minor surgery, I needed to hear it from the doc that I was all better to really feel like myself again. Silly, I suppose, but there you are.
