Just dumped one of my rooms that I didn't know I had reserved a year ago...LOL..and had the nicest visit with the reservations person. She told me she had stayed at the resort herself in Feb and described the rooms to me...said they are large...big bathrooms with princess soaking tubs (whatever that means)...very very nice she promised. Plus the lazy river and water slides (can't see me doing this...but who knows). So despite the 105 forcast I am psyched...plus a week from today I will go pick up Emily for a week. ;D

You dumped a room reservation at the resort? Arghh! I came looking a few days too late! Drat!! If you have any suggestions for a good alternate hotel, I could use one. I don't mind paying for a decent room, but I hate that the expensive places also then gouge you $25 a day to park a car, and another $15 for internet access. It seems to me, if they are already charging top dollar for staying there ... all those nice amenities should be part of the package. I've been surprised that none of these hotels seem to have shuttle service anywhere. Even one Marriott to another Marriott. Or the Marriott Resort doesn't offer shuttle service from the airport? That seems odd considering the rooms are almost $400 a night! They sure picked a pricey venue!

well conference hotels are getting priceier and priceier. And this conference as you remember is HUGE. They don't charge for extra people in the rooms and the parking if free if you don't use valet. I am surprised that there are no shuttles as it is somewhat isolated. My friend Brandi who posts here has mentioned Drury Inn and Candlelight Suites. Of course you could take pot luck and go for cancellations at the last minute somewhere close. Are you really going??? We will have to get together...been a long time since Vegas...LOL

Yes, the Candlewood Suites is offering a conference rate room and shuttle to and from, and it's only about 5 miles from the resort. The Drury by the airport is decent-I stay there every month for work. Free breakfast and snacks/drinks in the evening. Free wi-fi. Shuttle from the airport I believe, but probably about 20 min. from the resort, but it would be an easy drive. We're staying at the Candlewood. Would love to meet you!!!
