Let's try a cheerful thread...maybe Halloween. It is still Emily's favorite holiday and when Katie took her home the other day she said her family had decorated for it big time! They always have a big Halloween party...lots of family and friends so Emily will love it. Katie took her costume shopping and this year she is to be a Zombie. It is also the anniversary of her 3rd year living in companion care with this family. Life is good.
What is everyone else doing for Halloween?

Our kids love Halloween, too. We've decorated the house and have already dealt with Logan trying to wear his costume (and take his trick or treat bucket) to school a few times.
We will be picking out some pumpkins at the pumpkin patch tomorrow while attending a hayride and fall celebration that's sponsored by our state Down syndrome D.A.D.s group.
The weekend before Halloween, we'll decorate the pumpkins. We'll also cut, bake and decorate cookies sometime that week with my mother.
In addition, we'll be having a guest teacher from Japan living with us (she moves in next Tuesday). I know they don't celebrate Halloween in Japan, so it will be fun to include her in the holiday "stuff." She'll only be with us for a little over a week and will leave immediately after trick-or-treating on Wednesday.
We'll have to post pictures after the holiday!

Our church is doing a "trunk or treat" night next Sunday night. Everyone decorates the back of their vans, trucks, trunks..........and some people go all out!! Some of the decorations are amazing!! Then, all the kids in the neighborhood and kids from our church go from car to car, trick or treating. Emily loves handing out candy and guessing who each child is. She has several favorites and always has to give them much larger servings of candy! She will also have a Halloween party at school.
Kim, I spent two summers in Japan.........but I don't remember a thing about their customs at Halloween. Looking forward to hearing about your week with the guest teacher. Japan has some wonderful traditions!

We have gone to several trunk or treats at area churches. Some have bouncy houses, petting farms, and refreshments while others only pass out candy. Sarah has enjoyed everyone of them and has not asked to eat a single piece of candy! We have a ton! I am taking most of it to my school (I teach 6th grade band) since I can bribe a ton of kids with it.

Thanks. Yes, tall but thin, needs to pack on some pounds. But he's also faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.
