Well Sarah STILL has a kidney infection and it is resistant to a lot of antibiotics. She is now on MacroBID (Nitrofurantoin) - I have never heard of it and it is making her absolutely miserable - stomach cramps, headache, diarrhoea, sore throat, exhaustion - she feels so bad that she says she can't go to school tomorrow. Now any of you who know Sarah know she just LOVES school and HATES to miss it (weird kid I know ), so even tho I have no intention of sending her, for Sarah to actually say that means she feels REALLY REALLY BAD. Gonna talk to doc in morning as I hate to see her so sick - she was asleep at 6.30 this evening and I reckon will sleep thru til morning. I just wanna make her better Stella

Awwww BIG BIG feel well HUGS going out to Sarah For Sarah not to want to go to school, YIKES Stella girl she definately is not feeling well Does she have a temp? Reason I ask cause I remember now being on that med for a urinary track (sp) infection and they had to take me off it due to the side affects. Not for nothing girl, but I would call the Ped and see what they say, some antibotics (sp) are just not right for everyone. CC

Awwww Stella, I'm so sorry to hear Sarah is sick. Just a few suggestions from someone who has had a few urinary tract infections: If you can get her to take pills (Emily does this really well if I put the pill into a bite of ice cream or pudding), I recommend cranberry tablets on a daily basis. The reason they work is that they make the urine a bit more acidic, and the germs don't grow well in that environment. (they just LOVE alkaline urine!) We used to have a doctor who ordered Vit C daily for all his female patients for that very reason.......to add a bit of acid to the urine and decrease the chances of UTI's. It really works! And, really push the liquids. Many times, germs get into the urinary tract but get flushed right back out without causing an infection because of so many liquids being taken in. I hope Sarah gets well SOON!! Susan
