Steff~ I knew I remembered reading a post by Jenn from a couple days ago, so I knew she was safe. I'm re-copying it here:
**************************************************************** It is very sad.....I am in Shreveport....I have been crying nonstop...It is traumatizing.... We're getting close to 1000 new students in our district because of the evacuees....The Hirsch Coliseum, LSUS P.E. Building, and Another Gym has been set up as shelters....I have been coordinating donations today....We will be taking toys, clothes, diapers, & formula tommorrow for the kids. I will also, scope the shelters out for special needs children. I have made room for one family. I just can't get over all of this. A good portion of the people we have talked to don't plan on leaving Shreveport. Their things are gone....their houses are gone...and their jobs...
American Red Cross and the Salvation Army need cash donations. They are running out of room for "things", but need money for food, water, medicine, and shelter.
Anything you can do to help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Be thankful for your lives and family.....and hug them an extra time tonight.
Jenn

Hey Everyone
I live about 10minutes from Jen in Shreveport. We were not directly affected by hurricane, but we have a lot of refugees stationed here. My wifes family all lived in St. Bernard parish, so between 5 houses we have 40 family members, probably here for a long time. Some have even talked about not even bothering going back, they were just going to start all over in Shreveport, which is great for our family, but devastating for them. Most of them have heard from all of their family and close friends so we are in good spirits.
Keep praying and thinking of the families who are still trapped and waiting for rescue.
