I don't recall ever seeing this before and I believe if i did I would certainly remember. Surly brought out a ton of emotions for me, OMG I smiled, I cried, I smiled some more and cried some more.
Just sharing, I saw lots of good in this video BUT for me and hey may be cause I am going through a hard time right now, not sure BUT man the ending of the video although was sweet that the boy finished BUT honestly made me cry tons that it seemed as if no one was paying attention except the parents KWIM. I don't know just made me sad a bit, anybody KWIM??

Not fair, not fair, not fair. I find the links and then, tried 3 different browsers on 2 different computers, everybody gets to see this but me. And didn't know this was for Helen. Helen showed this to start her presentation at that CHOP symposium, what happened, she lose her copy? And, CC, maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought the kid's coach comes over to help him up, and kid's dad, who had been over protecting and holding back while mom did all the training, well, it's dad who finally steps up and says, no, don't you touch him, tells kid you can do this, get up and finish. So, I would have thought everyone cared, coach, mom, anybody in the stands watching this--though we don't see any of that. But it's finally the dad, who probably cared too much and in the wrong way but finally gets the idea, who cares enough to give the young man a chance to finish. Now, ain't that just like a dumb daddy? But maybe now I'm the one misinterpreting this music video. And did they really need that much fire or did they get a bit special-effects-happy? -- Bob (who would never admit he was tearing up with the rest of the dumb slobs at that CHOP thing)

Hi all! Had never seen this before - it certainly brought out the tears & emotions! Thank you for whoever found it & posted it here (BTW - second link wrblack posted worked for me 1st time around .... I'm on IE, windows XP....) Always liked Garth Brooks -- who is the young man in the video anyway, anyone know? See what I've been missing?! Never did post much on the MB- mostly on the BB - MB gets a little overwhelming for me! Been away from the site for a loooooong time -- now I remember why -- I spend too much time here reading the posts!!! Take care all! Hugs! Linda - (Mom to Adam - now 11! and 2 girls - Aimee & Kate - DH - Ralph)

Here is the chorus to Standing Outside the Fire. When Emily graduated from HS we did her graduation pic and had the words printed around it for her sister Marnie who had been her champion for so many advocacy issues.
(chorus) Standing outside the fire Standing outside the fire Life is not tried, it is merely survived If you’re standing outside the fire. There’s this love that is burning Deep in my soul Constantly yearning to get out of control Wanting to fly higher and higher I can’t abide Standing outside the fire.
*chorus* Standing outside the fire Standing outside the fire Life is not tried, it is merely survived If you’re standing outside the fire.
Actually it was just the last two lines we printed:
LIFE IS NOT TRIED, IT IS MERELY SURVIVED IF YOU'RE STANDING OUTSIDE THE FIRE.
Not a more fitting statement out there IMHO.
