Age is not something that bothers me much. I have to admit that recently I have been thinking about my own mortality off and on, and that has prompted me to talk to my husband about creating a will and specifying a guardian for Joy in case we meet an untimely demise.
But as I said, age doesn't really get to me. I handle birthdays like a pro.
However, milestones about do me in. This has been a week of milestones. First, Joy turned 5 on Thursday. Gone are the baby days...heck, she's not even a preschooler anymore. Yep, it's kindergarten, baby!
Second, my middle child finished summer school yesterday, which makes her a high school graduate. She opted to get her two remainining credits in summer school so that she could forgo her senior year. I cried yesterday as I took a picture of her on her last day of school, which will be placed in the album next to the photo of her first day of school. She got a good laugh out of my tears. This fall, she will go to college as a commercial art major. Yep, it's college, baby!
Finally, my eldest child (and incidentally the one who provides the most turmoil in our lives), will become a dad in early October. Not married, college dropout, many struggles ahead. But he says he's going to be a dad...not just a sperm donor. Yep, it's Grandma, baby! A little too young to be called that. I like Nana better.
No real point here. I'm just a little freaked out by all that's going on. I know many of you can understand where I am, so I thought I would share. Hope you all get a good laugh out of my despair.
Blessings!
