I think the latest school to get out that has been posted was around the 22nd or so, right? So how about June 25, 26, 27? We do want to do Cedar Point, rather than Niagra Falls right? Susan

I've been talking at work about getting vacation time off.....I need to be sure about this. Are we talking about the long weekend of June 24-27?? And for July, would it be July 16-18? Or the following weekend? Right now, it looks like I can get off for the June get together time (no matter WHERE it is), and the July get together time too. Now I'm going to hope Jordan's baseball games don't interfere. I know it seems early, but it will be here before we know it!!

Ugh...looks like C.Pt is out for us....
My in-laws stopped by today (unannounced. with the house a mess and me still in my PJs at 2 in the afternoon...but that's a whole 'nother story)
anyways....my father in law turns 70 this year and it has been his dream to take the ENTIRE FAMILY to Germany (he emigrated here 55 yrs ago). So, we were offered a virtually all expense paid trip for 2 wks to my FILs hometown. I don't want to go...not my idea of a vacation. 2 kids under 4 in a country where I don't speak the language (and everyone I will be with DOES....) because I know I will just be a glorified babysitter....PLUS I don 't do airplanes... but I digresss. I don't think I can be the party pooper on this one and refuse to go...but if we do Germany, everything else for the year is out.
but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed....maybe we can work it out to do both.
<sigh> I know I shouldn't complain, ...but yuck! someone want to go in my place?! :-) laurie

Awwww Laurie......that stinks! But....I'll bet you'll have a GREAT time, and will have such good memories of the trip. I'd love to meet you and MM though!!!! Could you do CP if you didnt' actually go to the amusement park? There is always LOTS of time at any get together where we just hang out by the pool and visit. Susan

Susan - it's possible...since it's a long-type weekend. Dh and I haven't totally made up our minds about the germany thing...i think he knows i really don't want to go -- but i'm trying to get HIM to go alone...I'd hate him to miss it because of me. so i'm going to keep it opened, just let me know the final dates whenever it's decided (or is it?) because i really would like to get there and meet all y'all inperson! it sounds like you guys always have such a blast... and no way would we skip the amusement park. I hate those things but DH loves them (can you see the pattern here, no airplanes, no amusement parks...I'm a BIG CHICKEN!) so i'd never have him skip the chance for a few roller coasters....we already checked out the website and it looks really cool.
ok...enough outta me! laurie

Robin - I think I'm going to put a recorder under DH's pillow so when he sleeps he'll hear "Cedar Point this summer....Cedar Point this summer....etc, etc" That way we won't procrastinate and actually make it there.... :-) Also -- if we get there, remind me to tell you my humiliating story of the Tower of Terror in Disney. My usual excuse is I am the "baby watching and pocketbook-holder" so as to avoid those danged rides....I think carousels and bumper cars are my speed.
About accomodations, etc...do y'all usually stay at the same place or does everyone pick their own? I'm sure those hotels/motels in the area must book early, right? Any idea of which places you were looking at? Water front or back off the beaten path?
