Well, like Robin's family, we too won't be there until Friday night... and will leave Mon AM.. probably not as early as Robin though LOL.. but who knows.. I just know that Fri night it might be late.. I am hoping not too late, depends on when Kevin actually LEAVES work LOL. I had already ck'd the water park online prior to the final decision and that is DEFINATELY not an option for us. TOOO expensive... and it is REALLY hard for us to care for Russell in water... the hotel pool will do just fine As for the zoo, I will ck out the prices online and ck w/kevin. Just depends on what kind of cashflow we have. We always like the park idea. We had fun in Chicago last year doing that, so that is great! Can't wait! A.

Wow, thanks for all the info Alice!! I went and looked at everything and the second park looks okay but I am not sure about the first one with us having a bunch of small kiddos running around while we visit and picnic, it has 100 foot high bluffs! Sounds beautiful but maybe not safe. I just know I cant wait! hugs, Robin

Robin, You are very welcome! I live in Columbus for 12 years and love it very much, and I want you all have fun here too. Actually, I prefer first park (Highbanks) better, but it doesn't have walking trail (but maybe you do not need it at all). Hugs, Alice

Yes, Alice, thank you for the links and the info you gave us... Your a peach! Are those the only parks near by? Are those the Park and Recreation parks? We have both kinds here.. we have some of those naturey type parks like the links you gave us, which I SO love and we have just the green grass, kids playground, picnicy type parks... which, when I have all the kids with me, is better. Do either one of those parks have a kids playground? A.

You are very welcom, A. As I know about these two parks, they do have a lots of green grass, woods, restrooms, and many playgrounds with grills. First, Highbanks has more playgrounds(I think) .
Someone from UnoMas group should come first and hold the grill area, so other people (not UnoMasers LOL) will not occupy a good place before us.
Annie C, please correct me if I am wrong.

Evening all;
Well, I'll call the hotel tomorrow to make our reservations...3 Schmitts! We can't leave till Saturday morning due to our work schedules and will stay till Monday. (its my Birthday...don't ask how old...lets just say I'll probably be the oldest "girl" in the pool!). I doubt if we'll go to the waterparks or such...we just may hang around the pool for 2 days!! And out to eat..that sounds good. Looking forward to seeing everyone again..Dolly

Looks like the zoo is $9 for adults (12 and up) and $5 for kids. Under 2 is free. We could do it or not.....depending on what everyone chooses.
Alice~ Thanks for checking out the hotel. Glad it's a good one! I know the price is great!

Well then.. a Mccy D's across the street... Reece and Regan will be THRILLED! Glad you ck'd out the place... nice to know it looks ok! I did read online at the Best Western site that there are some restaurants around... And Susan made me find a Chuckie Cheese, so I have already figured out THAT too Is there a Walmart or a Super Walmart near too? Then I don't have to get snacks and stuff (dinners and lunch)for Russell until I get there...he eats his own stuff. OR I'd take a grocery store I guess.... I just like the Walmarts for snacks an stuff... A.

Alice, can you tell me more about this park called high banks? It said it has 100 foot cliffs, if that is true it would not be a safe park for Chase as he has no safety skills. I went and looked at the web site and it looks as if there are really those cliffs there at the park. I a=dont think I would feel safe with even Zach there as my boys just love to explore and it seems dangerous. Can you tell us more? It sounds as if the other park is safer. thanks, Robin

Ok.. I looked and printed a map of where we are staying... it looks like the closest parks are Woodward Park, Minerva Park and the one link that Alice gave, Sharon Woods Metro Park. I am thinking Sharon Woods looks ok. Unfortunately, even through Columbus' Park and Rec site, you really can't see these parks well, they only really show the Rec Center.. which we don't need LOL. Also.. since we are northern in Columbus, we could also take a drive to Westerville which isn't that far. They have a Highland Park that has a park and public swim also. Like what we did in Chicago... Here is the link. It only shows the pool.. but you can read about it. Unfortunately, they don;t give many pics on the parks... but we aren't THAT far from Westerville. www.ci.westerville.oh.us/highlands.aspThese are just thoughts... and ideas... A.

Robin, Picnic/playground areas are very far away from the cliffs, you should walk there for at least 20 min. Our Luke doesn't understand any danger, so I see what you concern of. I'll try to check more on that this weekend. OK?
A., Unfortunately, I do not know anything about Westerville Park, here we need help from Annie C. Some parks or pools are for residents only.
Annie C, where are you? Please help us to pick up the right park.
Susan, I think that Zoo is not very expensive, especially if you will go as a group, but it is just my idea - you decide. BTW, the Zoo's web site is my friend's creation.
I'll try to find more info later, Alice

Hey guys!! Sorry I've been MIA...I had surgery last Friday so I am still recuperating The zoo is an excellent choice if you all can swng it. They have some new exhibits that look really neat. There is a place in the australia exhibit (I think) that you can purchase nectar cups for $1.00 & the birds will come & feed. I hope it is still there. I'll be checking that out in the next week or 2. Discovery reef is awesome, the kiddos love that one I've never been to highbanks park, so I am not sure how that one is layed out. Been to Sharon Woods that is nice. Westerville has 39 parks & wetlands that you can visit!!! lol We've been to quite a few of those, very nice. Most have restrooms & grill area, just depends on what you are looking for. Alum Creek park is nice & is good for big kids & little kids....plenty of room to run around. It is also in a bowl-like area, so it is easy to keep an eye on the kids, it is surrounded by hills. hope that makes sense. It is near Otterbein College, on Main Street (probably 5 minutes from Sharon woods) Hope this helps!!
