I am so tired of trying to find clothes that work for Ryan Size 10 is too small - 12 almost is too, but 10 husky or 12 husky is too big, especially in the butt and legs areas - and they are always about 8" too long GRRRRRR!!!! Everything needs to have an elastic waist band - he can't stand anything snug. HELP!!! School started last week, and all the kids in class are in uniform. I already signed a waiver to have him wear regular clothes. The basketball shorts fit the best and work well, but I'm trying to get him to "fit in". All the uniform tops fit fine. I've already talked to the teacher about the fact he may be in uniform a couple of days a week, and that is because we had some shorts that will work. I've tried to buy more of the same - but no one is selling them anymore GRRRRRR - I'm soooo frustrated!! Jodi

Have you tried a uniform store? Having grown up in catholic schools, I am amazed at how one can walk into the place and have the clerk measure and return with the perfect fit.

I feel for you! I took Clarice shopping for a dress Saturday. After about a dozen dresses of at least 3 sizes we finally found one that covered her rear end, and didn't gape in the middle!
Her most common phrase is "baggy pants", because she continually has to hike them up even if they have elastic. Good thing it is fashionable for girls to wear leggings with everything!

Try Target online. They sell all the uniform stuff. I just had to do that because they just started uniforms in grade school but no stores carried them around here. Otherwise, my next suggestion would be find a local seamstress. Have him measured once and then you can drop the clothes off and she will have his measurements on file. You'd be surprised its not as expensive as you think.
Good luck. It stinks when something so basic as clothes buying turns into a stressful thing!

Jodi, We've had the same issues with Emily over the years; although it's not currently a problem. For years, she has had a "pear" shape........and it has been so hard to get something to fit her bottom without being HUGE around the waist. I have found a few places that have 1/2 sizes (I guess that would be the same as husky sizes for boys), and I've found that not every store's 1/2 sizes fit the same. Old Navy used to have TONS of 1/2 sizes, and a size 10 1/2 was perfect for Emily..........wider in the hips and shorter than a regular larger size. JC Penney also has a good selection. I don't know if you have them in CA, but we have a Vanity Fair outlet store near us that sells Lee jeans, etc and they have uniform stuff in 1/2 sizes. I know you've tried husky sizes, so I'm just saying that different brands might fit better.
We do keep the local alterations shop busy too.........they charge $7 to hem jeans/pants/shorts. I get really excited when I find a great deal on a pair of jeans, and then just add the $7 to that.

I found that target elastic wast pants fit John-John when the "good" dept store clothes didn't. He won't wear his pants on his belly, he's just like a man. LOL Pat

Hem tape is exceptionally easy to use and loads cheaper than $7 a pair!! You just iron it on. Susan, I had the same problem with the waist of my pants, and my mom just started taking up a couple of inches at the waist of my pants. Just fold it at the middle of the back and stitch a triangle with the wide end at the waistline and the point at the center seam. Sometimes she'd make two of these right over each "cheek" but it worked well. Chris too

Thanks gals - I was soooo angry when I posted. I had been to Target, Gap Kids, Mervyns, Wal Mart, KMart, Macys, JC Penney, Sears, Kohls, and checked out ebay and online Target and Gap.
Ryan can't snap or button. I found shorts that fit perfectly, but they have buttons. I can just see him going out of the classroom to go to the bathroom about 50 yards away, and then coming back with his pants around his ankles because he couldn't pull them back up. In order for him to be independent, there has to be an elastic waistband. He is at a size that is so difficult to get. All the husky sizes look so bad because the crotch ends up around his knees.
Okay - this is bizaar - I just looked down at the google ads at the bottom of Unomas - the advertisement is for HUSKY pants uniforms clothes LOL!!!!
I am so cheap - the thought of having to buy the clothes is one thing, the extra expense to get them to fit just stinks! Guess I am still sore over the fact that I spent about 75 bucks once to have his clothes altered, and they hemmed them too short and cut off the excess material.
Thanks for letting me vent!
Jodi

I swear, we just can't win, can we? LOL!
My guy has fairly normal arm and leg proportions, legs are a little short, maybe, but is soooooo skinny that the clothing in the size he wears looks funny. I love adjustable waistbands, but unless the legs are cut REALLY slim, we end up with a waist that fits, but the pant legs look like CLOWN pants, LOL!!!
Length-wise, he is a size 4, going on 5, but he can still wear a 24 months waist!!!!! EEEEEK!
I will say this, when I find a pair of jeans that fit him, I buy a BUNCH of them. We did find, for those who have string beans like mine, that Tommy Hilfiger has jeans with an adjustable waist that have skinny legs (at least this year). I am always amazed at the sheer number of pants I bring home for him to try on, because it is easier than dragging him from store to store to store..............

By your description, Angela is EXACTLY the same size as your guy! (she's 53 inches tall and 79 lbs) She's the same inbetween sizes...well in girl sizes anyway.
My friend said that if you go the Lands End website, and do the "chat" with them, give measurments and they'll tell you exactly what size to get! Her daughter is a pretty big girl and this has worked very well for them until recently. Now she's having to make clothes as her daughter is far more difficult to fit than our kids are. I feel for her!
