Hey CC! So I was reading about your speech issue (sentences). I can really relate. I just got Ryan's new device, and I was at a training today. I talked to the trainer/SLP about sentences. I don't know if you remember the discussion about one of the regular speech pro's at the conferences (I think his name is MacDonald) - anyways, he preaches about "testing". He talks about how we question our kids to death and that we need to stop doing that. The trainer today said similar things. One thing was different though, and that was there are times we can help teach our kids to talk in more complete sentences. She used dinner as an example. Instead of asking the child "what do you want for dinner?" to which the response could be a one-word utterance "hot dog", she said to engage the child by saying, "hmmmm I'm hungry, maybe I should cook something for dinner..." The child may say "hot dog" to which you reply, "I am not a hot dog... what about hot dog? Are you a hot dog?" The child may say, "hot dog dinner" and again you can say "oh, hot dog for dinner tomorrow?" just egging the kid on to be more specific. She said it is all about taking the right opportunities with our kids and trying to gently lead them into longer, more complete sentences. Hope that helps Jodi
