Okay, WHAT is going on here? This kid was fine for a week, and he's suddenly miserable. The nurse told us to discontinue the Tylenol with codeine and switch to regular Tylenol the day before yesterday. His sleep had gotten restless again before we switched, but now he is waking up crying several times a night. He only ate applesauce and a little bit of yogurt yesterday, and I had to really work to get THAT in him. He's still drinking well because we bug him all day, but he's gotten VERY resistant.
Any ideas? Could it be because the scabs are coming off? Thank the Lord for chewy tubes, because he has one in his mouth just chomping away on it all day, and when he wakes up crying at night, I give it to him and he chews it 'til he falls asleep. That is soooo not normal for him. We are going to call the surgeon later. Any ideas would be welcome!!!!!

Laura-- I remember with Kaylee's surgery years ago and then a few neighbor kids in the recent years...they usually have a setback after the first week for 3 days or so. Personally--I would say-this will pass. And why discontinue the Tylenol 3? I would give it back to him for a couple more days if it were me.
just my thoughts-- cindy

I remember Eric's ENT telling us that days 5-7 may be uncomfortable due to the scabs coming off. I gave Eric regular tylenol, which kept him comfortable. Any temperature? I'd still call your surgeon to give him an update. You don't want to miss something, just in case.

This is part of the reason Angela had the "old" procedure done with sutures, because the ENT was concerned she's have problems with the scabs.

Aw poor guy!! Russell didn't have this issue so I sure hope he bounces back soon! I'd give him the T3 too again if it was helping better.

Hmmm, now he seems to be feeling better again. Weird.
I'm with you guys on the T3 thing. The nurses seemed hot to have him off of it, so we took him off. I was kind of ticked when I called and they said that this was to be expected. Ummm, hello, if you knew he was coming up on the most miserable days, why would you tell me to get him off the T3? Makes no sense to me at all.
The nighttime will be the real test. Can't wait.
Can you hear the sarcasm?
On the plus side, I just took a contract for a job in Arizona for two weeks in November. Any Unomasers out there? ROTLFLOL!

Have a great trip!
