I started a thread in the General section about our annual get together, and it seems that we're all eager to start thinking about it and planning it!
Lots of places have been suggested, and we can continue to toss out new ideas too. Can we begin to look at our calendars and see when the best weekend might be?
MB.......remember this is in addition to the NDSC conference!! I hope lots of us will also be able to meet up in KC!

Can we start throwing out dates? I am curious about when you all had in mind so I can see if this would work for us. I love the June/early July idea but don't know if that would work for anyone else A.

Christie, Usually, we start the get together on Thursday or Friday evening. We generally plan stuff on Sat and Sunday and head for home on Monday.
I'm not totally opposed to the weekend after July 4th; although right now I'm on call for that weekend. Since that is not officially considered to be the July 4th weekend, I could probably switch if that weekend is best for everyone. My only concern is that it would be a really busy tourist weekend, I think. BUT, if it's easier for everyone to get time off work then.....let's go for it!
I think the following weekend would be perfect for us though. If I'm on call one weekend, I can take Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sunday off the following week with no problem.
What's the best weekend for everyone?

Jackie.......read all of the posts about our summer get together. It is IN ADDITION to the KC conference. We'll never encourage anyone to attend the get together instead of going to the conference.

Ok....how about this? Here are the weekends from the end of June to the middle of July. It might help us to pick one! These are Fridays thru Sundays, but of course we could get there on Thursday night and stay till monday if we wanted!
June 22-24 June 29-July 1 July 6-8 July 13-15 July 20-22 July 27-28
Last year, we probably had the get together a bit too close to the NDSC (the weekend before), and we should certainly avoid that, I think. So, maybe we should eliminate the July 27/28 weekend.
With July 4th falling on a Wednesday, right in the middle of the week, it's hard to tell if the official July 4th weekend would be the weekend before (June 29-July1) or the one after! (July 6-8). At my work, the weekend BEFORE is being considered the official holiday weekend.
All that being said, I think we could swing almost any of those weekends, although that first weekend that was listed in June might be tough. And, of course, I'm currently on call for the weekend after the 4th and I'd have to switch with someone if we picked that one.
What are everyone's thoughts? Would the weekend before July 4th be too crowded?

IF we could swing this.. I think any of those dates would be ok for us personally. I like the earlier dates but only for selfish reasons LOL But truly, if we can swing this, we don't have any plans as of yet for anything and just so it's NOT close to the NDSC thing we are good. I know I ended up not going to either thing last year (conference or uno) but having them both one weekend after another did truly suck for budgeting and picking.
Oh... and as for places.. I know voting has proven to be disasterous in the past LOL no offense anyone, but... I am thinking we have had such a good response for TN (Gatlinburg) and Chicago so far... what if we work off of these two things?
Susan threw out Cincinnati to me last night while chatting, to keep is centrally located and I guess I am not opposed to that either. I just think TN would be fun because it's something new, KWIM?
BUT.. at the end of the day.. if it's close enough and we can swing it, I really don't care where it's at...I mean, St Louis is a great place to come too LOL

A, You know I love St. Louis....I've gone there for 2 Buddy Walks! And I'll be heading that direction for a concert in just a few weeks! My only opposition to it, as an Uno Mas get together, is that it is at least six hours farther West for those who travel from New Jersey, etc. So, TN or Cincy (possibly even Sandusky!) might make it easier for them!

Cincinnati is always a good place! It is the place we met for the very first Uno Mas get together many years ago! (In fact, we've had TWO get togethers there) King's Island amusement park is there, and the COOL thing about it is that they have a water park inside the amusement park......so if your kids hate rides, you can hang out in the lazy river or kids section of the water park all day! I think one of the years we went there, we bought passes for 2 days at the amusement park for a special price and people came and went as they wanted. There is a separate water park called "The Beach" across the freeway from King's Island and it's very fun too. There are tons of hotels in the area. There is also a cool park we went to before that cost about $1 per family (??) and there was playground equipment there, but also little spouts of water coming up from the ground in different areas. The kids really enjoyed it! (I believe it was called Winton Woods) As for Gatlinburg.....here is a link to the chamber of commerce with info on the fun stuff to do there. Of course, there is Dollywood and Dolly's waterpark (actually one of the best water parks I've been to!) and so much stuff like go karts, etc. www.gatlinburg.com/attractions/Susan

My number one vote is TN still ;D I would love to see that area My oh My its looks so pretty and looks like there is just tons to due there ;D End of June is just not going to work for us at all as we have school here through most of June and Kodi is graduating from HS this year so lots of parties and such. For us the best dates would be I guess July 6-8 July 13-15 July 20-22 I will keep an eye on here to see what you all come up with BUT I do need an amusement park involved PLEASE CC ~

I would love to see Gatlinburg! As of right now, the three sets of dates in July that CC threw out work for us.

We have a relative that lives very close to there as well. So we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. KWIM
