....for my Mary girl's surgery. I'm so scared. I know this is so minor compared to what some of you have been through but this is the very first time one of my kids has been in an operating room. We spent the whole weekend shopping and garage sale'n and having ice cream at Cold Stone. Trying to keep our minds busy ya know. She seems to be in good spirits. She has a new hospital outfit and a teddy bear to take w/ her. She just wants this stoopid tumor out of her jaw so it doesn't hurt anymore. Mommy wants that too but mostly I want it to be not cancer. Won't know until they send it to the pathologist and we get the results back. They think it's not but really can't say for sure until they look at it. My sister will be watching Brookster for me and my sister-in-law will be watching the office. Hubby has been in such pain for the past week he just has to lay in bed. I wish they could do surgery to fix him too but they don't think his heart can handle it. Anyway, my mom will be there with me and of corse her dad and other mom too. I've got to try and get some sleep and Desperate Housewives is back on the air. I should have just enuf time to watch before the Tylenol PM kicks in. Just needed to ramble I guess. Thx Please pray for my girl and for mom to NOT cry in front of her. I'm spose to be the strong one right?!!! Tomorrow's gunna be rough but I just remind my self what my favorite sunday school teacher said "God loves Mary more than all four parents combined." Thanks Chris, that one stuck in my head ~Goodnight all~

ooohhhhh I didn't realize there was anything going on with Mary. (how in the world did I miss that?) I'm saying all kinds of prayers right now, for everyone involved. Not only your family members, but for every medical staff person involved with her care as well.
I'm one of those who cannot stay in the room while the put my child to sleep. Nope...it freaks me out too much. Instead I let them walk away with her.
I've lost count how many times I've handed Angela over to her surgeon or anesthesiologist. Well into the 20's. How I've watched her take the hand of the gowned and masked person as she happily waved goodbye over her shoulder "Bye mom! I'm go take my special nap now!" while I have fought tooth and nail to keep the tears back until she has disappeared through a door and my back is to her. No matter how many times I've done it, it doesn't get any easier.
What HAS gotten easier is the waiting room. Now they hand out pagers so I don't feel trapped in that small room with other parents who are about to climb out of their skin worrying about their kids. Nope, being the stress eater that I am, I want to get out of there and find very sweet food like cinnamon rolls or something. Anything to stuff in my face really.
I take that pager and make my way to the coffee kiosk on the 2nd floor, that is run by a woman who've I've gotten to know over the past 12 years. She has a son with a rare chromosomal disorder and decided to open a coffee stand at the hospital as a way to minister to other parents. (and she's WAY better than starbucks!) Sometimes I make my way down the hallway to the NICU and look at the pictures on the wall, of newborns too small to imagine. There is a picture of newborn Angela on that wall and it brings me back in time. I haven't been that direction for several years...I wonder now if the pictures are still there?
Sometimes I hang around and make small talk with the family who's child is "just getting tubes" or simple stuff like that. Even though TO ME it's simple, to them its scary and worrisome, as they've never had the experience before. They ask lots of questions and by the time we've exchanged some pleasantries their waiting is done and it's time for them to be reunited with their child.
Anyway, I don't know where I was going with this, except to say I'm praying for you, and for Mary.

Thank you everyone. I'll be leaving here shortly. Was up 1/2 the night texting w/ Mary. Told her if she didn't get some sleep the tooth fairy wouldn't come to put $ under her pillow after surgery. ( She just might loose up to 6 teeth) So she said she best get some rest cuz she was sure the fairy leaves big bucks for something like this. I had to LOL Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I'll post up when I can and tell ya'll how it went. I'm off to the coffee shop regardles what my nerves are saying right now, mom needs more coffee

Thinking of you all right now!!! Please let us know how she does, and don't worry, if you cry, that's ok...MOM's are allowed to cry when thier babies are going through something tough!! It's our right that we have earned.
