I know this is not related so much to ds. I apologize. My cousin is pregnant with her sixth child. She had her ultrasound and I am sad to say the baby boy has trisomy 18, which is fatal to baby boys. Her heart is broken, but knows God is in control. You guys, please pray for mercy and grace for the family. Stacy

Stacy, how terribly heart-breaking for your cousin & family...my thouhgts and prayers are with them. I don't know much about Trisomy 18 and apologize if you feel this is not appropriate....but has your cousin heard of this foundation : Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep...... In their own words :" we are there for families to help them aid in the healing, bring hope to their future, honor to their child. It is through remberance that a family can truly begin to heal" It is an organization that comes to the hospital to photograph babies and their families ( no charge to families). It is a wonderful thing for these families to have beautiful photos to remember their precious babies. A very close friend of mine wishes you had a photo of her daughter who died just a few hours after birth. It is such a heartbreaking time for families that the last thing they are thinking of is taking pictures.....this organization gives them that and families have something special and meaningful to remember www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/ warning.....just looking at site....I need a box of tissues with me....they've got some songs that will break your heart.

Dear Stacy, I am sorry to hear that. We finally found the perfect church and one of the ways I knew was because a minute after we sat down in walked a mother with a young boy in a wheelchair. I started to cry, I felt like God was telling me, " You are not alone". I can't help think if Noah is the only child with a "disability". I know stupid me! I shouldn't give those things a second thought. Well sorry to make this so long. I talked to her after service, we cried and laughed adn she told me the story of her 16 year old son. He actually has Trisomy 18 which I thought was 100% fatal. She was told when she gave birth that she could take him home to die. That he would be a vegetable if he lived any length of time at all. Well he is 16 like I said and he is not a vegetable. He has a beautiful smile. OK I will be praying for your cousin. Love, Jess

T18 is a hard one to deal with. Your cousin might find this link helpful, www.ignitermedia.com/products/iv/singles/570/99-BalloonsBut you might want to make sure she has a box of tissues handy. Oh, and I was glad to learn that if Eliot were still around, he'd have a little sister now. -- Bob

Mercy Bob! Although watching the video made tears drop from my face, it was amazing.........what a precious little life and such an impact he had during his time on earth. It also helped me understand Trisomy 18 a bit better. Thanks for posting this. Stacy, your cousin is in my thoughts each day.
