there are currently over a thousand groups on facebook that have names such as ret rdz, ret rdworld, ect. ect that demean , and make fun of people with special needs, they take pictures of our children and family off the enternet and use them on their groups making fun of them ect. i have joined a group on facebook called FACEBOOK: STOP ALLOWING HATEFUL GROUPS THAT MOCK PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS please everyone one who has a facebook account and those who dont please join our group and help us hold facebook accountable to their own terms of agreement that hate groups will not be tolerated. while we are on the subject it came to light last week that facebook changed its terms of agreement in october that allows them to keep forever as their property and and all pictures , texts, music, video, poems , blogs so if you want to stop them from siezing your pics and other intellectual property write to complain, threaten to leave their sight and write your representatives as this is already under investigation.

read this www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-fi-facebook19-2009feb19,0,4088613.story I think we all need to remember that cyberspace is basically a free for all and we all need to be careful what we post. I think it is awful that people take pics and do unspeakable things with them...but it is not just those of disabled people...everyone is at risk for this. I will try and find and join this group Jackie

I will never go to a site like that, that will allow such a demeaning act. I will stay here (at home).

For those of you who are newer to this site you need to know that there was some hijacking and misuse of pics here at one time, too. I think this is why Michelle created the secure photo album. We have gotten pretty lax in posting on these threads photos of our kids. I don't know of any instance recently where problems have arisen...but we all need to be aware and careful.

Has anyone seen this update?
Update on TermsShare by Mark Zuckerberg Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 10:17pm
"A couple of weeks ago, we revised our terms of use hoping to clarify some parts for our users. Over the past couple of days, we received a lot of questions and comments about the changes and what they mean for people and their information. Based on this feedback, we have decided to return to our previous terms of use while we resolve the issues that people have raised.
Many of us at Facebook spent most of today discussing how best to move forward. One approach would have been to quickly amend the new terms with new language to clarify our positions further. Another approach was simply to revert to our old terms while we begin working on our next version. As we thought through this, we reached out to respected organizations to get their input.
Going forward, we've decided to take a new approach towards developing our terms. We concluded that returning to our previous terms was the right thing for now. As I said yesterday, we think that a lot of the language in our terms is overly formal and protective so we don't plan to leave it there for long.
More than 175 million people use Facebook. If it were a country, it would be the sixth most populated country in the world. Our terms aren't just a document that protect our rights; it's the governing document for how the service is used by everyone across the world. Given its importance, we need to make sure the terms reflect the principles and values of the people using the service.
Our next version will be a substantial revision from where we are now. It will reflect the principles I described yesterday around how people share and control their information, and it will be written clearly in language everyone can understand. Since this will be the governing document that we'll all live by, Facebook users will have a lot of input in crafting these terms.
You have my commitment that we'll do all of these things, but in order to do them right it will take a little bit of time. We expect to complete this in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we've changed the terms back to what existed before the February 4th change, which was what most people asked us for and was the recommendation of the outside experts we consulted.
If you'd like to get involved in crafting our new terms, you can start posting your questions, comments and requests in the group we've created—Facebook Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. I'm looking forward to reading your input."

I just joined and it said there were 2500 people that had joined already. Boy news get around fast doesn't it? ;D Keep passing it on, Facebook should really live up to their own terms and conditions.

I am totally supportive of free speech (not that I agree with what is being said) but so help me God if someone takes a picture of my child and uses it in anyway without my permission.

Thanks for posting this. I joined and many of my friends have joined this battle.
One thing to keep in mind for those who have Facebook, is to be sure you know who you allow to be a friend. Just take care in who you allow in.
I have met some great new parent's on Facebook who share the same common bond and love--meaning our beautiful kids.
I remember what happened here about 4 years ago or so on Uno Mas--so am wary of posting Dani's pix. In fact, I briefly joined Match.com and they would not post any pix of Dani and am glad in retrospect.
Take care, Kim and Danikins
