A. You are right but not all pointing, staring and giggling is mean. 2 quick examples.... First I don't know how many times I have been out with Michael (without Collin) and notice the cutiest child with DS and couldn't get to the mother to say something to her but pointed him out to Michael. I was not doing it to be mean....I was pointing at a beautiful child. 2nd -- Maybe not you as a child or a teenager but I know I did it... Whispered, pointed and giggled at someone to a girlfriend...then looked away real quickly and giggled somemore when caught. Not because we were being mean but because we were checking out the CUTE boy and was to shy to go up and say anything to him. Don't get me wrong....I teach my kids not to point, stare or laugh at others but, I just want people to remember...not all laughing, pointing and staring is meant to be mean. Susan knows now what happened but it could have just as eaily been....they thought Emily, Jordan or Justin was cute!! Connie

Susan, I think...no I know you handled this wonderfully and in just the right way! I know my kids before Collin was born were taught not to stare, point or make fun of others but kids are curious of anything or anyone differrent and kids will be kids...weither that is right or wrong. Sometimes they are mean when they are not actually trying to be mean. How many times have we said something to our own kids teasing them about the way they are doing something? Are we trying to be mean or hurt them...I know I'm not. I think I would have handled it the same way the father did. I think by having you come over to his car this protected Emily from somthing that might have hurt her. It also gave you the oppertunity to teach these kids about others with disabilities and being different. Bravo Susan....you are wonderful. Connie

To set the record straight. I as moderator have deleted both threads. If, anyone has the need to blame someone then it needs to be me that is blamed. Cathy, Right now I love the Cheekiness but I know in a few years I will be eating that remark!! His most recent use of a word appropriately was... "AGAIN" Collin has had several accidents over the last couple of days and I have figured out it is do to constipation but that is a whole different thread. But, he proceeded to tell me "Peed my pants AGAIN". While even though I was ready to beat him with in an inch of his life I was glad he could use that word. Connie

It just amazes me how far Collin has come in his speech in the last 4-5 months but I am finding it to be a lot like his walking. When Collin was crawling he was a crawling disaster...into everything then when he started walking I wondered what the heck I was wishing for ?!?! He was now a walking disaster he could now reach more things and RUN!!! Well...now I am not Complaining about is speech but my little man is getting a bit CHEEKY and he's to darn cute to get on plus I'm just so happy he is talking and communicating. While the WHY has started to subside it has been replace with a new chatch phrase!!! While it's mostly with him asking to be carried I have found him starting to use it more but it is beginning to old. Collin will ask "Carry Me"....I will tell him NO he proceeds to tells my "Yea you are!!!" Mouthly little Snot but really cute!! Connie

Jessie, LOL....I am waiting for the day that CPS shows up after one of Collin's hair cuts. PICTURE THIS!!! I sit on the toilet with him in a scissor hold with my legs growling at him, threatening him, bribbing him to cut his hair....there are times it takes me atleast 2 days (that means 2x of doing this) to get it done right!!!.....While over the years it has gotten better....it is still really nasty!!! So, glad to hear Jason is starting to talk more....isn't that just a wonderful thing and wonderful feeling!!!! Hugs, Connie

Kelly, Collin (5.5 yrs now) did not get his 1st tooth until he was 16 months old and they came in the weirdest order. I nursed him until he was just a little over 2. We really never had a problem with biting...but before he got his teeth he did like to CHOMP down. OUCH!!! Good luck! Connie
