What I have known for some time now, is that people with Down syndrome are very productive and valued as part of society. The so called "educated" folks don't get is that we are all the same as to wanting a "normal" life they have. This video proves it!......Debbie

Okay. I admit, I wasn't sure about Sarah Palin. I thought she sounded too good to be true. And she is a politican. Maybe not a national politican she is still a politican in the making. I guess I liked the fact that she kept family issues in the public. She wanted those to see herself as a Mother first above all. What if she had a daughter that is pregnant? So what? Christian's who are parents have son's and daughter's make those impulsive decisions with their hormones acting. It does not make that parent to be the bad person. Their teenage daughters were old enough to know the bird and the bees story. I liked the fact that she simply portrayed herself to be a person like all parents are every where. The only difference is that Sarah Palin is a Politican vying for the vice president job. You take that away and she is a woman, a wife and a Mother. She simply wants her children with her as much as they can be. And that boy Trig, is so cute!............Debbie

This is very interesting Bob. I don't know if I would be a good candidate for some of that stuff especially since I am already taking medications. You have always brought up interesting topics and I enjoy what you are reading and sharing with us. Thank you..........Debbie

Wow. I was just going to say something positive about Sarah Palin being a Mother but, I think I will stay out of this. I will just read and post on the other topics. I had enough on the other DS board........Debbie

Christie,
I really UNDERSTAND where Chris is coming from. I like my room to be as I like it and where I want things to go and stay. Now, I don't have OCD like he does, but, I do have some OCD traits. I understand the need to have your own space and possessions more than anyone. I understand where you are coming from as far as having new carpet. We had our carpet cleaned last May or June. After the carpet was cleaned and dried I was the that put things in there proper place. My parents understand that what is in my room is mine and that no one moves what is my room. However I was not upset that we had the carpet cleaned. I knew it had to be done before they had the carpet cleaned. We had spots that could not be taken out. The carpet just didn't look good especially in my room. I would ask Mom, "When are we getting the carpet cleaned?" ;D I Yes, I am a clean freak when it comes to my room!.............Debbie

Thank you everyone! I appreciate your thoughts.
I had a very nice day for my birthday. I didn't do much really. I spent most of the day on the Internet. We had a really nice meal together with my boy-friend. His name is Steve. The menu was fried chicken, mash potatoes, green beans and biscuits. I can't eat biscuits because of the wheat but my father loves them! So does Steve. Mom made Coconut Cream pie for dessert. I eat just the inside the crust I don't eat which is not much anyway. I would have loved to have visit Barnes & Noble today but Mom was cooking most the day today. So I will visit Barnes & Noble tomorrow! I do this on my birthday every year. I can take my time and not be rushed. Are there any books I should look for? I do read some fiction from time to time. I am looking for one book about Thomas Jefferson and John Marshall. He was the Chief Justice back then during Jefferson presidency.........Debbie

I consider voting a priviledge. I feel honored to do something such as voting for my country. I sometimes think people forget what a honor and priviledge it is. It is up to the person who is voting whether they want to share their decision on who they voted for. I don't like to talk much about politics when it comes to who I vote for. Sometimes it can cause too much of a spirited conversation and I can't always think of what to say quickly in defense. I just want a safer society to live in and good heath care........Debbie

What you have to remember and keep in mind is that Sarah Palin not only had a baby with Down syndrome but not too long after that, was asked to run for vice-president. Two very important and big jobs! I think she is a nice person and has a good heart, but, she is a politician. She has not had the time to really take everything in as you all have had to do. I think being a parent is the most important thing than being vice-president though. Yes, she has mentioned Down syndrome several times but, I heard her say a child with special needs more often because she wants those parents to be included. I guess it is a little of both. I sure do feel sorry for her though. The press has really done a number on her!............Debbie

Jeannie, don't listen to youir sister. She doesn't know what she is talking about. You will come across many who are very ignorant. Best thing is to find literature about families who have more children after having a child with Down syndrome. I am the first born in my family and I have Down syndrome. I have a sister who is two years younger than me. So, alot she knows! You might tell her about this website. Only she will have to make a step to get on and read the messages........Debbie
