First off welcome jlo, I'm Jackie, mom to 6 yr old Justin. Justin was just diagnosed last Sept. I think it was with ADHD, he also has DS. He takes Dexedrine in the morning and it has made a huge difference for the better he also takes Melatonin and Tenex about 1/2 hour before bedtime, the boy refused to fall asleep or stay asleep for longer than about 3-4 hours a night.

asthma?

Hopefully MM is feeling alot better today. As for the Asthma, both Justin and Ashley have the viral induced, any upper respiratory bug it triggers it, we have the nebulizer with albuterol for Ashley and Xopenex for Justin (easier on the heart), Ashley also has the rescue inhaler which she uses during sports if she is even a little bit congested. Now Alyssa our oldest has the full blown Asthma, she has just been upgraded to moderate to severe, she basically can't do anything requiring physical exertion such as running, walking a distance etc, she is also allergy triggered. She takes a nebulizer treatment with 2 meds twice a day(Pulmicort and Foradil), asthmanex inhaler, Singulair, Claritin D, Albuterol inhaler, during an attack we start a 10 day dose of Prednisone, double the Pulmicort and start Flovent 110 inhaler for 2 weeks. Now on top of this she was just diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and just recieved her CPAP machine, they say it's borderline but because of the Asthma and the fact she sleeps waaay too much, she can come home from school at 2:10 lay down and be out til the next morning, with me running in waking her up and asking her if she's awake and ok. I would just keep an eye on her or ear I should say, but the wheezing could be croup as well, she may just need the extra help during the cold season or while she's sick, they can put her on a preventive during this time also. You can also have her seen by a Pediatric Pulmonologist, Alyssa is followed by one every 3 months, for pulmonary function testing. If you think you could get MM to take a deep breath and blow you may be able to ask for a peakflow meter, that way when she's better you can get her best reading and when she's sick or you suspect she is coming down with something you can check it and if it's lower you can also give that info to the doc when you call for a checkup-it's just a plastic tube with numbers outside with a little red arrow and when she blows into it the arrow moves to give you her reading, I think I seen digital ones at CVS....Good luck and hope she is feeling better.
