Hi Everyone.
I just wanted to share with you something that happened to me recently. I wasn't sure if I wanted to share this or not but I thought, why not? I feel like you all are like a second family to me.
I received a phone call from my doctor's nurse this last Thursday evening this past week. She didn't talk to me but to my Mother. I have Osteoporsis in my spine and Osteopleny in my hip. From what I understand, the bone in my hip is thinning. I guess that is why the name is different. I will see my doctor this next Monday. I was told I would have to take a class on this subject and find out what I have to do to stay healthy and not break a bone. It was quite a shock to me and to my Mother as well. I am forty five. I am taking Estergen too. My doctor wants me to take this shot every day in my stomach for the next two years. I guess since I am younger than some who get this he wants me to take this shot. I am sorry I can't think of the name of the shot. Maybe Susan knows? I think she is a nurse. The medicine is expensive. I think my Medicare D insurance may help with some of the expenses. We will find out. I am already doubling up on my Diary foods. I like most of that anyway. I love my Orange juice, Skim Milk, cheddar chease and yogurt. ;D
Please keep me in your prayers. I am sure I will be fine though. This shot supposedly regenerates the bone. I still need to learn more about it.

Awww Debbie, so sorry to hear this. Shots every day? Geez, I get shots twice a week for my arthritis and I thought that was bad! If it's at all comforting, I have been told that shots in the stomach are the least painful way to get them.
I hope you don't have a lot of pain associated with this yet. Keep on getting that calcium!

Debbie, I'm glad you shared it with us......you're right, we ARE like family here!! I'm sorry to hear that you have to deal with this. Keep as active as you can, get plenty of sunshine.....the best advice I have! Could the injection be Calcitonin?

Debbie,
Thanks for sharing with us. It's when we share the good and the bad that we become more like a family. When do you begin the shots? On Monday? Keep us posted.

Debbie, I will definately be keeping you in my prayers. It's so nice to see you posting again. I'm glad you shared this with us. Now can I ask why ice cream wasn't on your list of dairy foods that your doubling up on? Or did you just forget to type it? I would be quadrupling on ice cream if I needed too!!! Feel good!

Shots every day Debbie? Well I guess you get used to it when it is what you have to do for your health - but it's a tough one! Best of luck to you, do what you need to be healthy.

Debbie- thanks for sharing--you sound so okay with it all. Are you worried or just kinda going with it...? When I was pregnant with Sam I had gestational diabetes and for a couple months I had to give myself shots of insulin in the stomach--It was okay. I so admire you..and every time you post I think about how glad I am that you participate here --you give us such insight on all areas, and the fact that you're willing to do that is a blessing! We certainly would not be the same with out you posting up! Let us know (when you can) what the shot is and how the class went. Cindy

Debbie,
I am sorry to hear of your new diagnosis. I had gestational diabetes and had to give myself shots four times a day. I tried giving the shot in my arm, thigh and stomach. I found it was much less painful in the stomach. I just would pinch some fat and put the needle right into the fat. Although I never enjoyed giving myself injections, it really wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be.

Debbie...I will say some prayers for you. Any new diagnosis can be a bit overwhelming. I am glad you shared this....that is what this is...one huge family. I am very glad to hear that the daily injections will help regenerate the bone....and the diet sure helps too!!!! Deanna

Debi, so sorry to hear that news. Like everyone else, I am so glad you chose to come hear to share it with us. The shots are a bummer....my son has Diabetes and I have to give him 5 shots a day. I try to remind him that even though he hates the shots and it is NO FUN at all, it's not the worst thing that can happen. ( it's also not the best.....that's for sure), but your health is the most important thing and you have to do as the doctors say to get well. Best of luck ! Keep us informed on how you are doing and pass along any pointers you find on shot-taking ! Allisa
