Ryan wants to be a witch! Don't know about that. As usual at this time each year I still have not got the costume yet.
Do you find issues with sizes? Everything is too long on Ryan. He went as a baseball player last year. Thinking maybe a clown this year, but I don't know if he will go for it. He is really set on being a witch!

Hannah is going to be Cinderella. I have to hem it at least two inches though-her legs are so short. It is also going to be a challenge to keep her warm in this short sleeve gown without her looking like a marshmellow underneath. Gotta love the cold! her brother is a dinosaur this year.

We don't celebrate Halloween, but our homeschool group has a harvest party every year, near the first of October. We have a costume contest at that party. I took five of the children, and they won three won costume awards. Joshua was a black belt (in karate). I just put a white shirt on him. Then I cut a pair of black panty hose in half and used one leg for a belt and the other for a headband. He won third prize in the "Cutest" category. ;D Our five-year-old was Mary, with Baby Jesus strapped to her. She won first prize in the best Biblical costume category. Our nine-year-old daughter was a Smarty Pants. We glued Smarties (the candy) all over her pants with a hot glue gun, and she wrote "Smarty Pants" on the front and back of an old shirt. She won third prize in the "Funniest" category. 13-year-old son was a quarterback. He just printed out a huge picture of a quarter from the Internet and pinned it on his back. 14-year-old daughter was a ceiling fan. She wrote "Go, Ceilings!" on the front and back of her shirt. Get it? ;D

Ok Kelly you are VERY creative!!! I love the smartie pants one and the celing fan one!!!! I am not a huge "costume" fan and that's the part I dislike about Halloween the most. I know I know.. that IS what it's all about for the kids but for me, even as a child, I never dug on it.. still don't. So.. like every year, I put it off until the last moment. This year I really wanted to try to get Regan's something either made or bought early.. but nope.. here we are. We were suppose to be in our new house by then too but we aren't. Regan wants to be Marilyn Monroe but at this point, I told her she will just have to stick to my budget and pick something. I messed up and never made her a dress, would have been simple but well, life got the best of me. Reece, thank goodness, will be what we bought her to dress up in for her bday, which was my plan. We bought her dress up clothes from Barbie's 12 Dancing Princesses. The dress, crown, slippers, ect...she LOVES to dress up and it was my intent that I then wouldn't have to buy her a costume 2 weeks later. And it worked LOL Russell, well, I don't know and I think Russell and I really don't care. The past few years he hasn't appreciated Trick or Treating AT ALL and has to come home after the first house or two.. he is miserable and screams and well, he doesn't like it nor does he "get it' nor does he eat candy. So.. why bother? KWIM? I know.. mean mommy... but right now I am out of energy with this whole house thing... so when all our friends come to trick or treat, Russell B Dussle and mommy might just stick to home and passing out candy. I usually buy the clearance outfits from Party City for him if I can find something without a mask or hat (which is actually very difficult). We have a few that we play dress up that I bought from there but I think they might be on the small side if I did need a costume... and I am so dang cheap right now.. LOL.... Am I whining enough about this? LOL... A.

Very funny Ryan wants to be a witch! Jason may be too old to dress up, but I don't care. He enjoys it still and so do I. Ok, admission time, I have costumes for me and Brian . . . so how can I NOT have one for the Boy? Jason is going to be a pirate (Jack Sparrow), and yes, sizes are an issue. He is too big for kids costumes and the adults are huge. It's really hard to find "teen" size costumes. Miss Ellie is going to be Dorothy. I'll post a picture of all of us when we are dressed up. Jessie . . . still a kid at heart and enjoying every minute of having kids to dress up in costumes I choose!! LOL P.S. Yes, A., you were whining ENOUGH!

Cory is going to be a spluenker (cave explorer)
Gracie has two picked out, one is an army nurse and the other (for school, since we're not having halloween there, we're having literacy day where you can dress up like your favorite book character) is Samantha from the American Girl line.
We've been working hard on JT's. He is going to be Max, from the book "where the wild things are". Let the Wild Rumpus begin.
Hey Jessie, you didn't share what you and Brian are dressing up as, spill the beans! Dawn

My kids are going to be the Incredibles. Victoria is going to be Violet, Ethan is going to be Dash, and Aidan is going to be Jack-Jack.
This started a couple of years ago, when Victoria was Mulan, and Ethan was Captain Li Shang (whatever his name is, the male hero guy in Mulan, LOL!) Last year, Ethan was dying to be Batman, and Victoria wanted them to be a team again (isn't that cute?) so she was Batgirl. Now we have a new addition, and Ethan is hooked on the Incredibles this year. Victoria was again insistent that she wanted to dress in the same theme as Ethan. I love that girl! It was phenomenally good luck that there is a baby costume in that Incredibles family!

Poor ole Eric is going to be a CHICKEN again this year....he was sick last year for his school party, so nobody has seen him in it yet; For around the neighborhood, I think he'll be a cowboy. We are all going to dress up at work too (I work in a pediatric office) and we are going with a "Wizard of OZ " theme. I'm the "FLYING MONKEY".....hope I don't scare the bejebbers out of the kids....I cut out the horrible monkey face (big fangs and all) and will just make up my face. Last year I wore a brown monks robe with potato chip bags attached all over....guess what I was? Ready...... A CHIPMONK!! HA!

My oldest, Ryan, will be a Quidditch playing Harry Potter. Wanted to dress up Emily as Hedwig, but the costume was expensive and couldn't find it in her size. Sooo, found a bee costume (complete with stinger) at my local Pathmark for $2. A bee is a bug, she is a wonder bug. Costume shopping done.

Sigh...........Emily told me the other day that she does not want to dress up at all. She wants to stay home (alone!) and pass out the candy. I gave her lots of suggestions for cool costumes, and she was very firm.......she just wants to pass out candy. And, sadly, it is TIME for her to stop going door to door. Her MOM just wasn't ready for it! Jordan has begged me to go out just one more year, and he got out an old clown outfit. He is begging to make his face scary, like the clown in the movie "IT". I have NEVER been in favor of the scary costumes, so we'll see.
Kelly: I loved your costumes!!!! No wonder your kids won!
The nursing home where I work always invites kids in to go room to room trick or treating. And this year's theme is "sock hop". I wanted so much to dress both kids up in 50's stuff. But, I guess I'm not in charge of that stuff anymore!

Meghan is going to be a ballerina-princess, same as last year. the costume still fits, and even though she wanted something new - i bought her a truck at Target she was dying to have, (LOL) so we got over it. She still wanted something princess-ey so she's happy. Matthew wanted to be a firefighter, but it had to be a RED firefighter, which I couldn't find, so he decided on a pirate, and after we got the hook and the patch (figured I'd make the rest) I found a red firefighter thing at Target for $10, hat, coat and accessories (including a toy ax, go figure)...the coat is pretty big "one size fits all" - I think they were talking kindergarten kids - but it looks cute. re: costume sizes...MM is pretty true to size, except a year or two behind, lol, she wears 5s in tops and 4's in pants - so 4T and 5T dresses fit her pretty well. laurie
