my aol was not working last night and I so wanted to get on here and see how your mom was and give you a big {{{HUG}}} but it just wouldnt let me. I am sooooooo sorry laurie that the biopsy came back positive I got up this morning and your mom was first in my thoughts and prayers. I am still praying hard for her Laurie and you so that you can find someone to help with the kids so you can spend lots of much needed time with her right now. This is when I wish the most we all lived close so we could be there for these kind of things. I feel so helpless so far away and it would make me so happy to be able to watch those babies and cook you dinner while you were with your mom. :-[Plesae post up as soon as you can and let us know how the surgery went for her ok? And tell her she is in all of our prayers. We are here for you Laurie hugs, Robin

i posted on the regular BB but will update here too in a bit more length. mom got thru her surgery well, and the surgeon didn't find anything unusual or unexpected. a few lymph nodes were enlarged, but no obvious signs of cancer in them -- but he removed them and pathology will study them. she's on a respirator, which i didn't know that she would be on, and that kind of scared me, but i gathered it's standard for such an involved surgery. i didn't get to see her tonight, and wish i could but am going to try and get over there tomorrow. i think i mentioned they moved her surgery up - it started at 10am and i didn't get a call 'til almost 6pm! by then i had convinced myself something awful had happened...but it didnt and she's Ok, well as OK as she can be considering. thanks again everyone...it means alot - the words of comfort and prayer :-) Robin - thank you!! even though my brothers all live far away, my MIL and SIL are close, and I have a few friends who can watch the kids for me in a jif - and my dear darling DH, whom I don't appreciate nearly enough, is able to take a little time off...so it should all be OK. When mom comes home it'll be a little tough, so if you and Chase want to come and give me a hand - please do, we have a couple of extra rooms :-D laurie

Robin - I'm sure I'd love to have you guys here :-D no, the spot on her pancreas was there - there was just no visual evidence that it has spread to the lymph nodes - because once it goes there, atleast w/ this type of cancer, you can pretty much forget it. but we're going to stay positive and hopeful and see what happens. it's really all we can do, right?! Jenn - how is your husband doing? That must have been a difficult time for you! I'm just glad I wasn't at the hospital waiting -- I would have been alone, and I don't think I could have handled it! anyways -- off to bed and my prayers :-) laurie

Laurie, Thanks so much for keeping us updated, at a time when you have so so much on your mind. I hope you don't mind, but just to make sure I understand the findings......the spot in her pancreas was definitely cancerous, but the lymph nodes looked cancer free, right? And the area where the cancer was has been removed. She'll still have to go through chemo and radiation, but it's a very good thing that they did not find anything else. I hold my breath every time I read your posts because of what my mom went through less than 2 years ago......the doctors told her she was being paranoid, so they delayed treatment for at least 6 months. I'm so glad your mom got treatment quickly, and I will continue to pray that she recovers completely!!! HUGE hugs to you......I really can relate.
Susan
